Title: Deals Gap Quickie Post by: the_Journeyman on August 12, 2010, 05:31:45 PM My wife hadn't ridden her Hawk 650 for a couple months, so I took it out to circulate the fluids & keep the batter charged.
Deals Gap is 78 miles away. So, that's where I went. It was great fun, I can't tell you how much fun this little, 22 year old 647cc bike is to ride way too fast is.** Posing at the overlook: (http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn168/the_journeyman/Hawk/DSC_0089.jpg) Looking the other way: (http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn168/the_journeyman/Hawk/DSC_0091.jpg) Fog/mist settling on Cheoh Lake (http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn168/the_journeyman/Hawk/DSC_0095.jpg) The best part [evil] Left knee: (http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn168/the_journeyman/Hawk/DSC_0102.jpg) Right knee: (http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn168/the_journeyman/Hawk/DSC_0101.jpg) Yup, first experience scraping my knee EVER! It happened on Deals Gap too, which was a worthy place to drag a little. **dragging knees on a stock 1988 Honda Hawk GT will result in you dragging exhaust bolts, pegs, and kickstand bolts... Nice ride too man, a collectable classic! Title: Re: Deals Gap Quickie Post by: Düb Lüv on August 13, 2010, 11:51:23 AM i would consider anybody draggin' knees on public roads ballsy. there's a lot shrapnel on the roadways in my area. i'm a scared B**** and granny turns. :(
jealous guy here. Title: Re: Deals Gap Quickie Post by: redxblack on August 13, 2010, 11:57:42 AM I'd be willing to bet Journeyman knows that run better than nearly anyone on the board, given his proximity. I can't imagine someone dragging a knee on roads around here, but the tight cuts at Deal's Gap wouldn't be too insane having learned the road very well.
That's a really pretty bike, too. Title: Re: Deals Gap Quickie Post by: DoubleEagle on August 13, 2010, 04:30:43 PM Cool beans JM !
Dolph :) Title: Re: Deals Gap Quickie Post by: the_Journeyman on August 14, 2010, 02:40:20 PM i would consider anybody draggin' knees on public roads ballsy. there's a lot shrapnel on the roadways in my area. i'm a scared B**** and granny turns. :( jealous guy here. A less spirited pass north is always in order to check for debris and enforcement. I'm more ballsy in tight stuff, and more of a chicken in high speed sweepers. Good news is I went back last night on the 900SS is managed a couple touchdowns. Thanks for the comments on the bike. It is so easy to ride fast and easy to throw around. Biggest drawback is cornering clearance. Still not bad for stock 22 year old suspension and a leaky let fork seal [laugh] JM |
