Title: yoyodyne slipper install help
Post by: Düb Lüv on August 13, 2010, 06:33:16 PM
so i understand about setting the stack height on the plates. the problem i'm having is that i need thicker plates. all the ones i have are 1.5mm and i need a couple thicker ones. is it okay to use OE ducati plates on a slipper or are the slipper plates a different material? will i just have to buy the yoyo slipper shim plates? i'm talking about the plates that are engaged by the hub.

thanks for any help.

I am using OE plates with a MPL slipper.  I *think* that the slipper clutch plates biggest difference is to address the problem you are having, they come in different thicknesses to make it easy to set the stack height.  I used a caliper to measure all of my plates - a mixture of new and old - and they are not all exactly the same.  Some of them are IIRC 2mm.

Steels not friciton plates?  No problem to mix and match the steels.  I keep my old sets just for that purpose.  Sometimes a stack will have one or two "curved plates" and you probably don't want more/less of those.
