I've heard it is not a direct fit....
Something to do with the bucket being a little larger ???
Anyone done this?
(for example Chris at DesmoWorld himself?)
[thumbsup]
a m has one on his bike, thought he said it was direct swap

Exactly. Bolts holes are the same thread and size (M8). Its a completely new headlight, not just the lens. Included is the bucket, reflector, ring and glass. Uses the same bulb size (H4) though I have put in a HID (H4 kit). The ring attaches slightly different, so you can't swap parts back and forth from the stock headlight to the new one, such as a DP carbon fiber bucket (a shame, because it would look good with all the carbon nonsense i've got on the bike).

If you haven't worked with Chris at Desmoworld before, he's a pleasure to work with.

80 Euros? that doesn't seem right.
I just mounted this last week. I'm a newbie and it took me 15 minutes to put in place. On my 695 there was a little bit of space between the brackets on the bike and the headlight bucket so it would have been nice with a pair of spacers but works well without. The hole for the cables in the back doesn't have a "lid" but again is not a big issue.
I strongly recommend maing the ring dark instead of chrome for any Monster frame color ;) I'll post some pics of my beauty as soon as I get time for it.
I bought some lexan circles pre-cut off ebay for fairly cheap. After screwing around with the oven, temps, and a fixture, I got the sag where I wanted it.
For $80, it might have been worth it to just buy the thing....then again, I can say "I made that"

I guess those 4 years I spent in Germany paid off [drink]. I learned enough German that I can navigate the Desmoworld website pretty easily. I have bought several things from them and I like looking for Monster bits you don't normally see for sale over here. The service is great too.

So, Chris - is the light a diect swap?
No size issues? Will you include washers to fill out the gap at the mounting brackets?
Hi
the light fit without any big modifications ... from left to right its 20cm , minimum smaller than stock ... no problem, fix the screw and the brakets move enough
of corse we can produce washers, but more parts means more possible parts to move ... we never need it on our own bikes
check the pics to understand what you get

Chris - I tried to place an order on your site and I got this:
"Bitte bestätigen Sie die AGB und ggf. die Widerrufsbelehrung."
...and the order wasn't placed. I've tried to order this light a few times, I guess it isn't meant to be.

Considering how much other options for headlights cost, I thought 80 euros was very reasonable. What's that? about $100? $105?

if you are not logged in you see the European prices include 19% tax ! means shipping outside euro = -19% -> 67,15 Euro + shipping 15 Euro its about 105 USD shipped
i think its a good price if you see 300 for the original one ;D

You pay me $300 for my original?
;D
The people of desmoworld are in the business or close doors?
I ask this because I trie to obtain information to buy a headlight and a led brake light but I don't have ansvers in the web site (contact form, here in DM to Chris, etc.)
It has been difficult to get in contact with them for a while.
This time of year + they're moving.....
If you know what you want, I think just ordering online is the way to do it.
What is it you're wondering about? Maybe I can help you.....
I'm interested in an asspuff to make my monster sound better..I think they carry those, too [moto]
AUSpuff.
I'm lucky enough to have an auspuff that's loud enough so nobody hears my asspuffs.
ha.
Yes, I have this headlight on my 900. pitchers:
when i had the DP gauge cluster:

Nowadays:

The only differences is its ever so slightly narrower from mount hole to mount hole - you could fit spacers in there if you felt it was necessary, but it isn't - the "ears" flex just fine (its a small amount anyhow). Not only would I buy this again, I might buy a second one for the other Monster!
Dw f sure looks cool,
how`s the light compared to original?
It's quite a lot better - probably due to a sharper focus.
First time riding downstairs into my garage, I almost crashed by slamming the brakes - thought I was meeting a car, since, for the first time in daylight, I saw a clear pattern of headlight on the wall.
It's better, still not incredible. Put a good bulb in there. I had the HID kit in mine for awhile and blinded everyone possible (awesomely)
you do all that work on your motor and cant retrofit an HID projector??? shame on you!!!! ;)
Actually definitely bookmarked some resources to knock that out in the future
As for non English sites
Try typing in all caps....
many Americans (including my wife) think that shouting at non-English speaking folks
transcends the language barrier
And you can simply use google translate w the sites hyperlink to browse in English if you can't navigate by intuitive pictures and such
The first I trie is to place a order, but all two items
Headlight http://www.desmoworld.com/shop/us/scheinwerfer-klarglas-monster.html (http://www.desmoworld.com/shop/us/scheinwerfer-klarglas-monster.html) and Led Brake http://www.desmoworld.com/shop/us/led-rucklicht-monster-getont.html (http://www.desmoworld.com/shop/us/led-rucklicht-monster-getont.html)
are in backorder. I trie to contact the people of desmoworld about a ETA, because I have a family member who goes to Spain in a few days and could get me these parts from there.
The other reasson to trie contact their is about the payment and their opinions and recommendations regarding the headlight (I need a good light, not just a piece that looks good).
that last part is quite subjective.
Spieglerusa.com sells the LSL headlight which looks the same (I bought one for my new Bandit), plus they answer the phone and emails - its about $150 shipped with H4 bulb.
I agree that the "quality" of the light is subjetive, but I think that all of us agree that the original headlight have a very bad "light quelity" je je je
Very interesing! And the headlight brackets are the same or need some adaptation work? Other very important thing is that the headlight size is the same 7 1/4"?
Thanks for the opinion :D
