i bought one of these for my VR6 vw when i had it. makes a noticeable difference in intake temperature. here' the company that makes'em. it might sound stupid, but you intake shouldn't get as hot as a griddle. product would be perfect for us.

It would depend on the size of the intake runner.
On a carbi bikes, i have no clue...
On a FI bike (like mine) the intake runner is only an inch or two I'm guessing...then it goes to some plastic/rubber elbow reducer piece.
Insulating the intake from the head with a gasket would probably be pretty useless as the studs would transfer enough to heat the small piece anyway.
I'm thinking the intakes are already exposed to a large volume of fresh, cool air. If anything I'd think a bulkier set up would be more vulnerable to heat soak.
Or: A motorcycle's engine "bay" is nothing like that of a car's.
You can also buy quality aluminum faced fiberglass tape from McMaster-Carr and cover the underside of your airbox and fuel tank. It takes a surprising amount of tape to do so, but it *should* cut down on the radiant heating of the intake and fuel.
