Title: ASV clutch lever install problem
Post by: asherrick on August 20, 2010, 02:25:27 AM
So I got a set of ASV levers for my 696 and installed them yesterday.  They're really sweet, by the way.  However, I'm having some problems with the clutch lever.

1. The neutral kill switch adapter/tab piece that came with the lever never really gets close to hitting the kill switch when you squeeze the lever.  Am I missing something or did they send me the wrong piece?

2. When you squeeze the lever all the way in it hits the control before it hits the grip.  It doesn't look like there is much room to slide the clutch to the left (closer to the grip) because the fast idle would hit the mirror.

Maybe this is normal...just looked at my stock lever and noticed that it has a mark on it from where it hit the control.

Just for future reference as to anyone using the search for this problem, I used a zip tie on the paddle bit of the lever so that the buckle of the zip tie hits the switch. Works good so far. Just tightened the tie up real tight.  [thumbsup]

apparently a lot of people are having issues with the ASV levers. there's another thread about them having issues

I had Pazzos and they fit perfectly.

Guess I should have followed up on this thread since I was the OP...

Anyway, when I had my bike at the dealer for service they fixed it for me.  They had to bend the kill switch mount so it would make contact with the tab on the lever.  It certainly seems like the neutral kill switch fitment on these is way off.
