If he's still doing break-in, the motor is still pretty tight.
It should improve a bit with some miles.
A 44mpg S4R is about the thriftiest I've heard of, I recall high 30's as more of the norm for S4R.

High 30s for around town with spirited riding. 44mpg on the freeway. Someguy swears he gets 60.... I think he is crazy.... You reading this someguy ;D

Though not a S4R, but Shadawchaser was getting about the same mileage out of his S4Rs (during very spirited riding) and his big rig. [laugh]
i've gotten as high as 60 from my S4, so maybe someguy isn't crazy
I've been mainly doing mixed city/highway/traffic jam riding on my 696. First tank I got 52.8 mpg. Second tank I got 54.8.

I've never heard him claim that...maybe you are the crazy one. [evil]
I bet if you kept it at 55mph in 5th or 6th you could get close to 60 mpg from just about any bike but what fun is that
