I'm surprised not to find a million spark plug threads on these boards. I know Duc recommends champion plugs in the manual, but what do most of you lower displacement Monster owners use on your bikes? Anyone see a noticeable difference between the std and the iridium plugs?
NGK DCPR8E will work well.
+1 on what Speeddog said. The ones with an A at the end have the thin screw top that fits on the later ignition wires. I had a bad band from 3-4K RPMs that just went away when I switched to new NGK spark plug wires and resistor plugs.
OK, battlecry raised an important point.
Not sure when they did it, but Ducati switched from the plug caps that fit over the standard end to ones that fit the threaded stud.
Some spark plugs still have the standard end that screws on, so if you get those you can make 'em fit either cap.
Others have a standard end that's permanent, so you're hosed if you have the caps that fit the threaded stud.
There's a 'stock number' or something on the plug boxes that determine which is which...
NG4339 is the part#
There you go. :)

So no one really recommends iridium plugs?
I can't get Iridium plugs to fit my S4, last I checked.
Regular NGK's seem to work fine in the air-cooled ducs.
