Recently, my friend helped me install an HID kit in my headlight. I thought I had all the wiring done correctly, and I installed a relay as well. I noticed afterwards, that my computer panel was flickering when I turned the bike on. Well that was last week.
Today, I decided to ride to work. As I hopped on the highway, I see my EOBD(Error on Board Diagnostic or something like that) light go on, and all of a sudden my bike was at like half power. I was able to ride it like that for a bit until it just died on me. The engine was bogging down. I determined that battery caused the EOBD light to come on because the HID kit was drawing power. My question though is why would my bike lose power like that?
Could be:
A) Voltage got low enough that the ECU either went into 'limp-home' mode, or flat out started working improperly.
B) There is something else wrong, coincidentally it happened after you put the HID on.
A is an interesting theory. My friend who used to be a car mechanic was telling me how some cars have this mode: limp mode. I never knew something like this existed. Does anyone know for sure if the engine goes into some sort of limp mode for sure when it throws an error.
I really just want to know like you said if there is something else wrong or not. I also want to know so in the future if it happens again, I will be prepared to handle it.
