I don't disagree with you in wanting something else for the track...the monster is a great bike, but isn't the most logical choice for the job...especially at that track.but heres another trackday. im done with trackdays for the year, and im done riding my monster on the track forever. Ducati Thunderbolt Trackday (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAVoW4NmP_4&feature=player_embedded#normal) I will say there will always be some guy on a monster that will do things on it at the track that make us feel just as slow as we do now. It isn't just the bike dude. Title: Re: NJMP Thunderbolt Trackday Post by: He Man on August 25, 2010, 05:05:37 PM oh i didnt mean it like that. i ended up chucking the bike down turn 7. i ended up dragging my kickstand on rumble strips trying to pass someone (not on the inside, long story) and it lifted my rear up and the bike was doing a 720 on the floor spinning around.
Not worth it to chuck your street bike when your street bike is the only transportation you have. Ive been dragging so much crap on that track because its all tight turns, and i dont want to fork the money for rearsets because it would make it a crappy street bike. so its a lose lose situation no matter how i see it. you make mistakes, and its better to make them on a trackbike then your everyday bike Ducati S2R1000 crash (http://vimeo.com/14435292) Title: Re: NJMP Thunderbolt Trackday Post by: ducpainter on August 25, 2010, 05:16:33 PM <snip> Yup...you make mistakes, and its better to make them on a trackbike then your everyday bike Ducati S2R1000 crash (http://vimeo.com/14435292) that was my logic too. You realize you are doomed... right? Title: Re: NJMP Thunderbolt Trackday Post by: He Man on August 25, 2010, 05:18:33 PM whys that? I sense your going to say something profound.
if you mean i should check my emotions at the door. Yea i realized that. other then that i dont know waht u mean. Title: Re: NJMP Thunderbolt Trackday Post by: ducpainter on August 25, 2010, 05:21:59 PM Because you won't quit riding the track...
you'll find a way to get a track bike... it'll be an SV or CB or something you feel you can afford to toss away. Yeah I know...you're a poor student....it may not happen right off, but it will happen. Like I said you're doomed. I can get it working for under a grand too. It will take me a better part of 8 months to get all the parts and put it together. but its happening.

I use to use my monster but after I re-did the thing last winter I was not going to chance tossing it down the track. I picked up a SV for cheap money. It has had a few problems but a little TLC and its running great. I've got two more track days for this year then thats it....sad to see them end but then again I can barely afford them! [cheeky] |
