Bike is 2002 Monster 620 dark.
Problem is when I'm turning the bars to the right at about 95% turn it shuts off. I can turn the bars 100% right and it will start/remain started. It doesn't make a difference if I'm sitting still or riding, it will shut off but every single time. I generally don't ever turn the bars that far when riding so it's not a common issue but definitely dangerous.
Weird thing is if I am sitting still and move the bars from straight to right lock VERY quickly it will cut where it usually shuts off but remain running once I pass that point.
While sitting still I checked for things that could be pinching/catching and things of that nature but can't find anything.
I bet the bike will stall when you wiggle the harness coming down the steering head too. Either there is a break in a wire running through the harness or l loose connector pulls apart when the bars are turned.
You have an electrical fault in the harness coming down the right side of your steering stem. Check those wires very carefully and you will find one that is frayed. Splice a new wire/connectors in there and you will be golden. I had exactly the same problem on my M900.
Are you guys talking about the part of the harness with the largest clip? I'll check it out.
First thing that came to mind was that your kill switch was contacting the tank :)

It isn't that impossible...
my killswitch wiring came in between the steering stop after a clip on install. [bang] [bang] [bang]
I wiggled 2 different bundles of wiring around a little bit. It moved the "kill spot" to the bars being about 5* off center to the right and then wiggled some more and I can't get it to shut off by turning the bars anymore. Thanks for the help guys.
Just because the problem went away doesn't mean it's fixed.
I realize that, definitely a bittersweet result.
Option A is to spend countless hours trying to get the problem to replicate and then attempt to fix it with the chance I can't fix it.
Option B is to ride until it happens again on its own which could be a long time and then attempt to fix it.

Or you could take our collective word for it and follow the kill switch wiring and ascertain the connections are tight, and if they are open up the harness near the steering head and fix the broken wire.
It isn't hard to find
i fixed the problem. the wires were routed absolutely retarded, my bike was wrecked by the previous owner and he had to put a new headlight bracket (the whole U thing). the wire from the killswitch was routed down with the throttle cable then behind the headlight bracket then to the left side of the bike. The wire from the harness met it over there. I put it back in the clip on the right side where it's supposed to be and it's all good now.
Easier to do it in the light rather than stuck in the middle of nowhere on a dark rainy night. ;D
