Title: available power for heated gear
Post by: cobrajet on August 28, 2010, 03:12:44 AM
On my 06 800s2r any ideas on what watt loading I can run for heated gear? Getting tired packing the snowmobile gear back home when the days warm and am I'm only really good with that down to the high 30s. Thanks, Bill

You'll get better answers in Tech...

Your bike an produce 520 watts.

You need approximately:
55 watts for the fuel pump
   55 watts for the headlight
45 watts or so for tail light, running light, dash, etc.
55 watts for the engine electronics
210 watts.  This leaves you 310 watts for accessories.

The estimates I am using are a little high for safety factor.  Also, keep in mind alternator output is low at low engine speeds and even lower at idle.

Great answer howie, thanks! Was hoping a hundred was available. My commute is 38 miles of country roads one way, about 90% of the time at 4 grand so should be no problem, thanks again, Bill.
