So I'm having issues mounting Sato rearsets on my M900i.e. (2000).  The vertical pipe to my high mount exhaust is obstructing the rear brake mount.  I don't see any other way to mount the rear brake.  Has any had a similar issue?  Do I have to jerry rig the rear brake or should it bolt onto the rearset? 

The Sato rearsets are designed for stock/low mount exhaust. When you have high mounts you'll have to figure out a way to mount it.

Try doing a search to see if other have had the problem and what their solution was.

So does this apply to all rearsets not fitting high mount exhaust on the older dss or is there another brand of rearsets that would work with a high mount exhaust?

There's other rear sets that were able to fit with high mount exhausts. Many times, there were just stand off spacers offered to make room, or other kits that allowed for the riser pipes. For example Rizoma offers rearsets of DSS monsters, but there's an additional kit needed for those with highmounts. Cyclecat had two different model numbers for DSS rearsets - one for low exhausts one for high.

I've got a set of AG Hammer in the garage that work with highmounts if you are interested. Since I've used them, they are on sell for a deal.

Works on the DSS era frames, like yours, and has removable passenger peg/low-pipe hanger section, so you remove that and you'll be good to go on your high pipes. I test fitted them on a friends 98 900 with high pipes for verification a dozen or so months ago when I was in the market for more pipes.

I've got Ducati Performance rearsets; they're close but they just barely work with Termi high pipes.

The Sil Moto vertical "S" pipe comes much closer.  The bend in the Termi goes towards the muffler where as the Sil Moto pipe goes staright up out of the header.  I'm thinking the megaphone type muffler is much longer which is why the "S" pipe comes so close to the rearsets.  When I get a chance I'll post a picture.

i'm trying to visualize whats going on, but i know what you're talking about. i guess MW had the same problem witht their bike, so they dented in the exhaust. here's some rearset spacers i came across.

I contemplated taking the ball hammer to my pipe but figured I have seen this work without doing such drastic modification.  If a m says he has AG hammer rearsets that work then I'll go thought route.  Otherwise I might try the spacers or just keep the stock set up.

Been out in the warehouse it seems like for days - i'll grab some pics and get back to you guys who are interested. In design, they are "very" similar to the Ducati Performance / Red Racing Parts rearsets.
