Title: What do these spark plugs tell me?
Post by: JimmyTheDriver on September 04, 2010, 04:59:18 AM
As you may have seen, I have another post around here where I whine about how I feel my bike with a slip-on Termi Shorty exhaust is causing my 2007 S4R to run too lean.

Here is the info I was provided in my thread with regards to checking a plug to see if its running rich/lean...

"White is bad, gray borderline, brown (any shade) is good, black and dry is rich, black and wet is oil."

I got around to pulling a plug, this one being the front one closer to the front wheel.  Hope it does not matter which I pulled... or do I need to do both?

Anyway, here it is... looks safe to me. Thoughts?

Thanks!

You want to look at the color of the insulator on the center electrode. Kind of hard to see in those pics, but it looks medium brown. Perfect. And do pull the other one and check it too. If they are both medium brown, fueling is good.
