Title: Is there more than one S2R1000 DP ECU?!
Post by: WetDuc on September 07, 2010, 12:55:51 PM
I keep reading and hearing different things.  Is there a different DP ECU for the S2R1000 depending on whether it was bought as part of a full system or a slip on system?
I have the ECU with part #96517406B, anybody know which one this is if there is a difference?

Sorry to create more threads, I just want to get up to spec on the new bike.

I have the same ECU which was part of the slip-on set with airbox. I went ahead with the DP header/midpies as well. AFAIK, there is only the one version of the DP ECU for the S2R1000.

I think there are actually 2 different one's available. 1 for the slip-on and 1 for the full system. I could be wrong though.

That is the rumor I keep hearing.
Are these the same ECU with different settings or totally different ECU's with the same part number?...I have no clue.

I thought there was a slipon and full version as well. I think the full pipes may be a larger diameter throughout which would explain the different tuning for the full vs slipon.

So it would make sense that the same ECU could be adjusted to be for either full or slip-on system?  That would be nice.

I'm just trying to avoid having to re-flash the ECU when I get the Marving midpipes in a couple weeks.

I suspect they're the same ECU, just with different maps and part numbers.

Have you asked a dealer?

Yes, but he said the slip-on ECU would have a different part # than the full system ECU.  Seems to contradict what I read online.

When I got my bike in 2007 there where two ECU's available, the stock ECU and the Ducati Performance "DP" ECU (part No. 95617906B).  I'm unaware of a different "DP" ECU unless another was made recently.  BTW, I have a full performance system on my bike, including the "DP" ECU (part No. 95617906B).

Manufacturers *usually* don't make 2 different parts with the same part number.
Makes it really hard to tell which is which.

Does the sticker on your ECU say 95617906B? That would bring into question that there are in fact two different ECUs because as is shown in the picture above, the number doesn't match.

Oops, I meant to type ... "96517406B"

...the stock ecu is "28641481A"
