I've found a nice set of 5 spoke Marchesini wheels from an ST4 Ducati for dual sided swingarms. My bike has 17mm axles on Brembo wheels and the seller says his Marchesini's require 25mm axles. Whats involved to get these to fit my bike (M750)? Can I just swap out bearings and use my existing spacers, cush drives and rotors? or am I getting myself knee deep into a bigger headache?
thanks.
Your rotors will work.
99% sure your existing spacers will not work.
Your sprocket carrier is made for a 4.5" rim, 160 width tire.
You *may* be able to get the chain to clear a 170 tire on a 5.5" rim with your carrier, but I think you'd need the 5.5" carrier as well.
Other folks here have done that kind of swap, so their input is important.

The sprocket carrier for the wider wheel must be used.
what about the bearings? Can I just swap in a pair for 17mm axles? The spacers for the front wheels wont work? The front wheels are the same widths.
If I can source the sprocket carrier for the 5.5" rim , will a 180 tire clear the chain and can I use the rear spacers/washers for the rear wheel too?

The bearings for the 17 and 25mm axles are slightly different widths so you would need a different external spacer/speedo drive or a combination of both.
The chain will clear. You will also need to flip the front sprocket so the shoulder faces the engine cases. Not certain about the washers/coned spacer.
Cone spacers are different on the 5.5 carriers.
It'd be a bit of work to fit those wheels, but not sure what your options are on light wheels for the small axles.

OZ and Carrozeria both offer wheels for the older bikes.
I'm sure Marchesini and BST do also...if you don't mind taking out a mortgage for a set of wheels.
thanks guys for all your input. I guess this mod is a bust. :'(

anyone who swapped out a 4.5" wheel to a 5.5" wheel chime in please. Whats exactly required? I want to run a 180 tire.
