Title: M696 headlight connector
Post by: MagglioPR on September 12, 2010, 07:19:37 AM
The four pin connector (motorcycle's wiring connector) is burned around the ground wire section. I get a fully lit high beam indicator and neither low nor high beam works. The dealer replaced the headlight (warranty coverage) six months ago due to this problem but it is doing it again.
What could be the source of the problem? Would a new waterproof connector fix it?
The M696 is still under warranty coverage but I'm on a waiting list, I guess they are too busy at the dealer.  ???

Have you changed the bulbs wattage by chance?

No, Osram Silverstar same wattage.

The only thing I can think of is a poor connection...either at the bulb or at the connector that keeps burning.

That will increase resistance and could cause that symptom.

+1

After your dealer does whatever they do to warranty fix it (again), when you get it home pull the headlight connector, apply a little dielectric grease and reassemble.
