We're all under enormous pressure to tail-chop, but one my concerns is that it tends to supply a wet & dirty back. It's funny, just an hour ago I was doing some work on the rear chain guard and thinking to myself: why hasn't anybody made a fender to cover the rear part of the wheel. At that exact moment you come along and show us that it has been made. Cool. Too bad it's not for the single sided swingarm (sss). Also I pictured the perfect product as a snap-on/off so that it could easily be put on whenever a dark cloud was seen. Very interesting anyway - keep'em coming! Title: Re: Swingarm fender eliminator (?) Post by: MotoPsycho on June 11, 2008, 07:51:21 AM I think it's silly. If you get stuck in the rain, you're gonna be soaked anyway so the fender thingy wouldn't really matter much to me at all. Water puddles don't make a difference if you go around them.

I agree, Wet is wet and dodge the puddles! Title: Re: Swingarm fender eliminator (?) Post by: scduc on June 11, 2008, 04:20:51 PM I actually like the look of the tail. Call me crazy. I can see how a lot of people like the chopped look as well. Maybe I'm afraid to start cutting things off and then change my mind.
Title: Re: Swingarm fender eliminator (?) Post by: mmakay on June 11, 2008, 04:29:56 PM I'd like to see it on a bike before I pass judgment. It could look cool ... or not.
Title: Re: Swingarm fender eliminator (?) Post by: scott_araujo on June 14, 2008, 09:13:47 PM This doesn't do anything about the fender, it just moves your license plate to the side of the swingarm, like on some choppers. With that you can eliminate the mudflap/lic plate mount but you've still got to deal with the beer tray and rear subframe on your own.

I have buddies who have that and get fix it tickets because the plate horizontally mounted, not vertically. I had the hotbodies kit on a prior bike (like Competition Werkes) and had problems with plate positioning all the time.
I guess I'm getting a bit more practical in my old age. No need to give any more ground to Johnny Law just for a couple style points. |
