Title: Any reviews on folding levers?
Post by: speedknot on September 13, 2010, 09:51:17 AM
Can anyone with folding levers tell me if you've ever had the issue where you pull the brake or clutch in and the lever bends or flexes.  I'm looking into them but if they have a rigidity issue then I'll just get the fixed ones.

I've got Performance Technology Levers from Bellisimoto which fold. There is a tension bolt which keeps the lever rigid for riding, but I believe would fold if I were to go down.

Yeah, it was kinda overkill, but they feel pretty good. One minor quibble is the bolt to activate the brake light switch is not thick enough to cause the light to go out when the front brake is not applied, so I used a cable tie to fill in that gap.

i have the folding lever from crg for the brake side, and honestly if i had to do it again i wouldn't.

the foldling lever in theory protects it if you drop it, etc.  but the added joint in the lever does make it a little less stiff than the stock levers. something to consider.  amazingly i think the stock brembo non adjustable levers i like the feel of them better, and if i had to get crg again i would get the normal long levers instead.

I'm using these on several of my bikes:

MW Folding Brake Lever: 999/1098/S4RS/HM/SF-Black  (http://www.motowheels.com/italian/myProducts.cfm?parentcategoryid=1395%7CMonster%20Controls&productID=5811&showDetail=1&categoryID=1334|Monster%20Hand%20controls&vendoridtodisplay=0&filterFor=&collection=168%7CEuropean%20Motorcycle%20Parts)

Very rigid, very comfortable, not too flashy design, great finish.
Easily survived a low side at 80mph.
$109 each.

I race with ASV shorties. Best levers you can get in my opinion. They adjust nicely and hold up to crashes great. As far as strength/rigidity...they're solid as heck. [thumbsup]
