Title: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: speedknot on September 13, 2010, 01:01:43 PM I'm looking into a stand to do maintenance on my Duc. I'm probably going to need a swingarm stand because I haven't seen rear spools for my 01 Monster. What kind of stands do you use and like?
Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: triangleforge on September 13, 2010, 01:05:32 PM Pitbull works great on my '01, even with my crappy dirt-floor garage.

Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: badgalbetty on September 13, 2010, 04:32:13 PM I have an s2r 800 and Pit bull for the rear. For the front its axle stands and a hardened steel bar under the horizontal cylinder.Works great to yard off the front end.
When I worked in the bike shops as a wrench we had air tables and then would use scissor jacks under the motor to lift the back ends. The front wheeels where always clamped. To work on the front ends we would simply place the bikes on the air tables at 90* to the table and lift up. Front end comes off very quickly that way.Secret is staps to secure the bike on both sides :) Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: speedknot on September 13, 2010, 06:13:59 PM I was checking this one out. I really wanted to try to keep it under a $100 but still have something of decent quality.

Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: Howie on September 14, 2010, 01:23:11 AM Pit Bulls are overbuilt. Overbuilt is a good thing. You will have it for decades. Think of it as an investment.

Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: avizpls on September 14, 2010, 03:56:07 AM Pitbulls are the best.
I have a Spec-S or whatever and its also very well built. Do NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT get a two piece one. Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: causeofkaos on September 14, 2010, 05:35:01 AM In past posts i have commented that T-rex is good enough.
After having mine for a while i realize that budget and good enough have nothing to do with motorcycle stands. as a trex owner i say Pitbul for the win. Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: psycledelic on September 16, 2010, 11:10:11 PM I originally had the TRex SSS stand. I later moved on to the front and rear TRex race stands after I installed my front and rear axle sliders. All of which have worked flawlessly. I don't use them all that often, so I can't justify paying the extra cash for the other brand stands. If you plan to use the stand frequently, it might be worth the pitbull. If not, I would say get the TRex and save the leftover cash for something else. Just my opinion.

Post by: Mojo S2R on September 17, 2010, 12:56:39 AM +1 for T-Rex. Good product and exceptional customer support.
Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: adgergewh on September 17, 2010, 03:26:01 AM What do you mean with a "two piece one"? probably in reference to the T-rex having seperate wheelbases that bolt to the lift handle as seen in picture. (i think no longer available, but they are nice). I use it for my M900 - spooled, has accomodation for non-spooled DSS bikes. My front stand is also a CycleCat (lifts at fork bases). My rearstand for the superbike is an older Pitbull without the swept-up handle, so I have busted my knuckles a bunch (which I do not like). The swept up style of the DP sss rearstand makes avoiding busted-knuckles idiot proof. I need to get an under triple stand pretty bad. I will probably get the pitbull one of these. Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: ajw85 on September 17, 2010, 07:17:09 AM Harbor freight stand. The steel one, not the aluminum one. It's not pretty, but it gets the job done.

(http://t-rex-racing.com/imgs/large/blavruniurl.jpg) Exactly. The two like that Ive had....the legs would separate and it was stable enough that it never fell, but very wobbly. So I guess its really a 3 piece. Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: sbrguy on January 03, 2011, 10:05:36 PM just got a pitbull sss forward facing stand in the mail today, that is one nice stand, seems well built and heavy duty, definitely seems like you get what you pay for which is good customer service, fast shipping and a really nice product, hope it holds up as well as everyone is saying.
Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: atomic410 on January 04, 2011, 07:44:48 AM pitbull, woodcraft, or vortex. cheep stands like powerstands, handy, etc. stay away from. yeah they are cheep but you'll need that money when your bike dumps over and you need to fix it. support co.'s like pitbull, vortex, and woodcraft since they put alot back into the sport. Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: booger on January 04, 2011, 09:52:53 AM Buy a used stand from CL, I see Pitbulls on there frequently. That's how I got mine. They are super stable.
Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: lethe on January 04, 2011, 04:11:51 PM I've got a Cyclecat for the rear and Pitbull for the front
Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: erkishhorde on January 04, 2011, 04:44:23 PM I don't know if spools came stock on the old m900 but mine has them and when I switched to aluminum cnc axle plates my pitbull stand doesn't work with spools anymore since the plates get in the way. Good thing I got a switchable pitbull stand. Too bad I didn't notice that it doesn't fit until after I gouged my plates right after I installed them. :-\
Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: Jarvicious on January 04, 2011, 04:58:28 PM Pitbull pitbull pitbull.
I'm only running a rear for now, but a buddy has both front and rear on his CBR900 (not a light bike) and I (225lbs) can rock the holy shit out of that thing and it doesn't budge. It may be a bit overkill, yeah, and it may be a bit more expensive than the other guys, yeah, but you're never going to have to replace it (unless you make the beast with two backs it up on your own) and like someone else said; you'll be supporting a well run small American company who supports racers and people like me alike. For those who are still on the fence due to price, check out your local craigslist ads, you can always find used pitbull stands for sale, sometimes up to 50% of retail. That's where I found both of mine. Also dont discount an ad right away if it isnt exactly the one for your bike, sometimes all you need a the right adapter, which you can order directly from Pitbull. Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: Jarvicious on January 05, 2011, 06:36:12 AM I bought mine for $100 off a guy who got rid of his 848. Remember, all (most?) the SSSa single pin models from pitbull are compatible, you just may have to buy a different pin.
Check your local boards as well as Ducati.ms. Some of those guys go through bikes like the Wera cats do. Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: dgm on January 06, 2011, 07:42:37 AM I got a cheaper ebay stand for my 696 and had it for exactly 24 hours before sending it back and ordering a pitbull rear stand. I have to echo everyone else here on the pitbull. You can't go wrong with it.
Title: Re: What motorcycle stand do you use? Post by: Ddan on January 06, 2011, 03:19:19 PM I've got a Handy front and rear, a Cycle Cat front, and some unknown brand rear, and they all work. The bike won't fall unless you do something stupid, and the stands won't break. Some are easier to use than others, and Pitbull are probably the best built, but there are many cheaper options that will work. More important than brand, IMO, is that a DSS have spools. You can easily add them to yours.
