Hi, I just got a gear indicator for the '06 S2R ( Its really small [thumbsup]). I'm supposed to connect the red wire from the gear indicator to a "12V switched +12V power lead". I connected it to a red wire behind fuse box but now the unit is on when ignition off; so i got the wrong wire.
Instructions recommend making a temporary connection using thin needle to test for correct wire but I don't have needle handy. Anyone know off the top of their head which wire behind the fuse box is the "switched power lead" one I'm looking for and what color it is???
i have an '06 s2R 1k. the shop manual has a pretty extensive wiring diagram that might help. do you have it? if not, PM me.
Yeah, have it downloaded on my computer but I don't really know what to look for; never had to read a wiring diagram before. I found the fuse box on the wiring diagram. Anbody know what on the diagram indicates whether or not the specific wire is switched? No legend on my diagram
Pick a circuit that is only on when the key is on, like the headlight or the fuel pump. Then tap off the protected side of that fuse.
Okay but what do you mean by "protected"?

After the fuse (e.g. when the fuse blows, power is lost).
I used the brown one (for fuel pump). I'm pretty sure it's covered based on the wiring diagram. Looks good. Will finish ziping wires and test ride tomorrow. Thanks a lot for the help. ;D [thumbsup] [moto]
when you get this puppy up and running how about a review
It will be my pleasure... Look for a thread in the accessories and mods section titled "Gear indicator review" in a week (or two).
