I have a serious itch to scratch. Not sure if i'm getting tired of my 696, or just really really really want to build a bobber. Thinking of trading in for a used nightster to bob or maybe a bonnie black.
ideas?
maybe im jus getting bored of her. no idea.

good point. any others? another thing is the 696 really isn't enough bike for my wife and I to ride together. not slow, slugish, and my plate even hits the rear hugger going over RR tracks. This kind of just looks like more fun right now... :-\
A dyna will give you better clearance and support two-up riding. of course, if you choose a long-distance tourer try the Streetglide which is lower than the Electra Glide and a much different feel (sportier at that). A bonus is you can get Brembos on them now too. I have an Electra Glide but have ridden big cruisers for over 15 years so I'm used to the size...........but I do loves me sum S4R [evil]
[thumbsup] cool bikes. go for it.
do both! it is the only way to go. 8)

+1. I haven't even picked up my new monster yet but I'mam already thinking about my next toy ;D
On the cruiser side, Victory has some pretty nice deals right now...............
You should go check out the new 48, the silver one is just gorgeous in person. They come with fat front and lowered/blacked out stuff already.
1st I'd say , they look neat but how do they ride and handle ?
2nd, if you can swing it .....keep the Monster and get one of the Bobbers.
More fun that way !
Dolph :)
If it can wait. See how the DIAVEL turns out.
Where is your wife going to sit on either of those?
Great for cruising the boulevard, but what else?
Sure won't solve your two up dilema.
Need to tie your wants and needs together, sounds like two bikes, bobber and ST.

Not enough torque? [cheeky]
Keep in mind that someday you might actually want to ride your bike, as opposed to just looking at it. Where will you be then, on a slow poor handling piece of crap that is a pain in the arse after 20 min.
Stay with a duc,
It's all been done before. Nothing orginal there. Might have been cool 10 years ago, but not so much now. Why spend a lot of money to make a bike that handles like crap and people have done before. If you are going with a Nightster, I'd recommend the top bike.
Unless you are creating something that has never been done before like Duck-Stew's cafe or Truckinduc's project you might as well just stick with a stock or slightly modified stock bike.

Stay with a duc,
Doesn't every one of the big four riders say that about our bikes?
I've yet to see a Duc SBK that wasn't a complete nut cooker.
If he likes the bike, he should try one out and buy it if he likes.
If he's planning on taking the wife, he should get something with a pillion seat :P
If it moves you, go for it.
But I'd just go for more than one bike in the stable, since life's too short for one make. :)
keep the monster and buy a cheap rebel

Whereas if I was the OP, I'd be keeping the 696 in preference. If I wanted to actually ride that is. For pumping ditches I agree with you totally ;) ;D [thumbsup]
Folks is all different, eh [beer]
Keep the Duc and find a old Honda or Yamaha.
I like this one. CB750

so aftrer a few days of thinking, im way past that phase, im now looking for a used sport classic. I love love love the Zard exhaust, only problem is riding two up would be hard, since (i may be wrong here) the zard exhaust requires a single sided rear shock = monoposto (correct??) anyone know if this is the case? can the single sided shock wok for two up if i find a biposto seat that works?
this could get tricky.
i already posted on a thread about this but, what are the monoposto SC1000's going for used, and what should i be able to get for my 696 with termi's, dp ecu and tail chop?
thanks guys, im really looking for something new with more power to ride two up. saw a paul smart in Aspen this weewkend, had me drooling all over again
thanks
Jim
Glad to see you came to your senses [thumbsup]

ha ha ha thanks. i think there is a lot going into this decision. I need more power (1000cc), i love timeless design (partly my draw to HD, but the SC isn't going anywhere either), and there is something about metal tanks, spoked wheels and big sound. I was originally taken by the 696 design, but at the dealer they offered to sell me an 06 SC, black with termis. I didn't know anything about it,so I said no thanks. I think i've regretted that ever since (seeing the zards).
I don't think the SC ever came with a metal tank... I'm pretty sure the dual shock sports had removable pillions with seats IIRC.
My 2 cents? If you're changing your mind that quickly you may want to give it awhile, make sure you don't actually want something else. Having two bikes is better than having one bike you try to do everything with, That's why I own three ;D
