Bike Factory: 174 Gouger St, Adelaide 8231 2301. Mixed reactions on services - me personally never had problems but have had a friend have bad service. They are good with older belts and bevels. ALEX BUXTON has a dynojet dyno and really knows his stuff, shame he's on the northside at geebung. if you live near the coast or the border, or don't mind the travel, these two are also very very good. I have had thoughts in the past of the type of things that people continually ask or talk about, such as: . insurance (and/or CTP) . servicing . tyres . parts suppliers (local or otherwise) . how to host/post a pic . training . upcoming events/rides/track days . etc ... and wondered if we may be better served by having an 'FAQ-style' thread stickied which might address all these type of recurring queries. Obvioulsy this may become a problem from a keeping-up-to-date/editting point of view but it was just a thought I have had. That is why I put this one up cause everyone always needs to find someone for bike servicing in their neck of the woods. For most of the other things people can use the very interweb we are on as there is lots of info out there and it's not that difficult to find. Tyres always comes up for sure and there is a tyres thread floating around. Again everyone has different thoughts on what tyres they like and why. Really though finding a good mechanic is something we all need, finding our way through the rest of the things. Bling and who to buy it from. And the rest of the items raised people can muddle through. Or ask or even use the search and see what they find. Having it stickied means it's easy to find. As I said they were recommended to me by fellow Oz Monster member Vossy. [thumbsup] Picked up my bike today after having valves checked and belts replaced. I supplied my own belts - CA Cycleworks belts. The old belts were definitely past there use by date (4 years). These guys know their stuff, and gave me some really good advice i.e. as to why go with OEM belts VS After market belts. They presented a logical argument as to why pay extra for the OEM belts, to which I will do next time. They also corrected me (in the most customer friendly way) on how tight my spark plugs should be - my bad I had just replaced them! Even though it is an hour drive for me to get there it is worth that drive. I will go that extra distance for service and confidence that these guys know what they are doing. My impression was that the CA Cycleworks belts were manufacturered to a higher spec than the OEM ones. I don't really care which is cheaper (within reason, of course), I just want to use the best belts I can get. Andy is the man to ask for there. By now you will see the trend. Hobart must be the only capital city without a Duc dealer or dedicated mechanic. For some reason they congregate in Launceston. Good story little bit bad story Had my second (brake) micro switch fail in a couple of months, rear then front. Anyone else had this happen? Lucky all under warranty(just) and props to Carl of Northside Motorcycles Artamon replaced both on the spot no waiting no drama grabbed a spanner fella from the workshop , then straight on it. Pretty good service really considering I have never spent a cent there on service after purchasing the bike from him two years ago. The high country roads are notoriously harsh on tyres. But it could have something to do with the amount of trips I've done up there lately. I did manage to get 12 500km out of that tyre. Oh and in case you were wondering. After you've worn through the wire layer there's more rubber. Is $800 over the top for a major service (20k)??? My last minor service was more like $160, and more like what I'd expect. However, they are no longer in operation now, so the other choices are, well far more expensive. Don't get me wrong; I am happy to pay good dollars for a good service, but that seems like overkill for a basic 2 valve service.... No real horror stories about the dealership. It's just that they are NFI! I was told to take the bike to Speedy Moto, and that the best nearby Euro service outlets had recently closed down. I've never had to service a Duc before so I'm really not sure where's a safe option to take the bike. Has anyone had experience with Speedy Moto? The recommendation I got was glowing, but that's not always worth a lot! I have already done the belts myself and will do the oil/filters, plugs, and other general crap, but I'd prefer to leave the valve work and more in depth things to the pros. I'm planning to buy the DP Airbox to fit with the Termi's and DP ECU. When I get the 20k service done I was hoping to have the bike tuned to suit the new pipes and filter, it needs idle adjustment and I'm sure syncing etc. Does anyone happen to know is Speedy Moto has a dyno tuner? I'd love to have it dyno'd and tuned to purrfection. Hopefully if I can do a lot of the 20k work myself I can get everything done by the shop for less than 1k - although I have no idea what dynos cost having never had one done...

Found the guys attentive and enthusiastic. My mate (non biker) who helped me trailer my bike in watched them and commented the same. They checked the belts, bearings, pulley etc and found all good except belts a bit loose. adusted it and took it for test ride to check. Charged 1 hr labour in total. $80. Sound is all but gone now. Cannot complaim about that! This is an area you can really get nailed by unscrupulous people. Cars etc are the same. I was sweating blood but relieved when presented with the bill. Spent another 30 mins or so discussing tuning options as they are a dynojet site as well. I had lean issues so I got a power commander installed with a custom map. As the previous poster said the guys were very enthusiastic. I liked the fact they were very honest by telling me they weren't the cheapest guys to get the power commander installed but stated that they guarantee there work. They gave me a price up front. Bike is running much happier now and has a few extra ponies.

It might end up being cheaper to take it to the place you are going to get it serviced for them to get it running than getting a mobile guy to come out and get her fired up then take it somewhere to get serviced. My dad's dealt with them before, and when I called Arthur listened to my story (see here (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=51679.0)) and suggested the jets/emulsion tubes. Ordered a set, and had 'em in two days, along with some filters for regular maintenance.
Very pleased, knew the symptoms, knew the fix, had the right parts. Firstly Scott took plenty of time to talk through what could/should be done on the service, and then when I arrived, Tim and the guys there did a fantastic job of looking over and servicing my monster. Well priced, but more importantly, they know monsters and I knew my ride would be well looked after. Will definitely be taking my monster back there when the next service is due.

Rode the R6 at EC yesterday the work he did has transformed the handling of the bike. The hideous tyre ware and surface melting has repaired it self and the bike was so much easier to ride I could stay on the throttle through corners and was faster than before, even in the wet. I purchased my 800S2R second hand and had no idea of it's true service history, so I took it to Scott and Tim who went about doing a complete log book and fuel system service, which gave me peace of mind. These guys have a lengthy history in Ducatis with Tim having done his apprenticeship with Euro-twins under the guidance of the now retired Bevan. My bike had sat for a long time prior to me owning it, after a couple of weeks it developed an intermittent fault which turned out be a fuel pump relay. We all know how hard (and frustrating) it can be to pin point intermittent faults, but Scott and Tim had it sorted quickly and didn't cause my wallet to flatline either. [thumbsup]

I suppose getting a FIFO job may also have something to do with it. Anyway got it serviced by Anthony Warnock at Corse Motorcycles, Bayswater. Very thorough. Took the time to explain things to me, kept all old parts to show me why he replaced them. And cheap as. Did heaps more than a minor service. But I think he just wanted to see how well it looked for the kms it's done (110 000kms). Wasn't too hard to get in to see him either. So if you are ever over this way and need a workshop I would definitely recommend Anthony. I purchased my 800S2R second hand and had no idea of it's true service history, so I took it to Scott and Tim who went about doing a complete log book and fuel system service, which gave me peace of mind. These guys have a lengthy history in Ducatis with Tim having done his apprenticeship with Euro-twins under the guidance of the now retired Bevan. My bike had sat for a long time prior to me owning it, after a couple of weeks it developed an intermittent fault which turned out be a fuel pump relay. We all know how hard (and frustrating) it can be to pin point intermittent faults, but Scott and Tim had it sorted quickly and didn't cause my wallet to flatline either. They did make a mistake with the service but went above and beyond to rectify it and so I am still more than pleased with their work, despite being off the road a few more days than I anticipated.

Guys did a great job. Bike had a 30k service, and it has come back really well sorted, like riding a new air cooled 2 valve! There goes that trade in on a Diavel... [cheeky]
Title: Re: Bike servicing options SYD-BRISBANE-MEL-Adelaide Post by: gino on August 16, 2015, 12:17:59 AM Could'nt get the S4R to start.Rather than find a trailer and take it in to my usual Mechs, i found a mobile guy on Gumtree.He rocked up at my place and completely blew me away!Got my Irridium sparkys electrode , said there"s your problem, bent them straight, cut about a mill off .Bent them back down'' no guage'' a file, fired straight up !Could hear it lagging a bit, synchronized the injectors . Took all of 30 mins.Went for a ride.Never ever had it running that well!!He's a mechanical engineer.Specializing with bikes. Really nice guy too. $50 call out .$50 an hour.Also fixed a blown relay for my spot lights in minutes where other people found too hard!Gunna use him all the time!Tim 0406569975 Syd wide.

I use a mobile mechanic for the cars and its really convenient.
