Title: Motoservizio
Post by: Povidius on September 20, 2010, 08:49:30 AM
Well, I need to get some work done on my 696.  I hear this guy is good, but the problem is he never answers the phone nor returns my messages.  Is he still in business?  Is it just one guy?  I also heard he doesn't take new customers... is that why he's not answering?

How are his customers getting a hold of him? More importantly, how do I get him to work on my bike?  ;D

Is there anyone else that can service my monster (besides going to a dealership).  The reason why I'm looking for a independent shop is due to bad experiences I've had with dealerships.  I'm sure some are great, but I hear the guy at motoservizio doesn't cut corners and takes his time to do things right.  Thats what I'm looking for.

There was a thread about mechs in SoCal a while back and a lot of people had very good things to say about Motoservizio. I've been taking my bike to Nick(Speeddog) at Valley Ducati Service since I got it. Great service, great prices, and fast turn around. And a great guy in general. You will be very please if you take your bike to him.

And he's easy to get a hold of. Just PM him or the number for the shop is on his profile. Good Luck.

Scott is swamped ( very busy with work) and does some new customers by referral ... I think due in part by a high customer base. I called him a few days ago to make arrangements for my 24k service... he answered quickly...and I go in on the 27th...

Scotty is an excellent wrench and a good guy.

Nick is an excellent wrench, good guy and a big part of the DMF community.  Unless it's a hardship to get your bike to Nick, give Nick your business.  You can't go wrong.

Thanks guys. I'll be going to Nick at the end of this month.

Its going to be a mini road trip for me to ride up there from Orange County, but it'll be worth it I hope.  :)

have the SO follow in your car and go to the LA zoo on the way back.  That's what I did with the wife/kids last time.

I don't have an S.O., so... I guess that's out of the question, but thats a great idea.  I'm going to drop off my bike and stay the night (in a hotel) up there and pick my bike back up the next day.  It's actually a good thing since I always wanted to check out the Valley.

So today was the day I went to see Nick.

Lemme just say this first:  Its freaking HOT in the valley!!!  :o   I think I lost 5 pounds through sweat!

My bike was pegged at 4 bars starting from the 10 freeway (where the traffic got totally PACKED) to nicks shop.  I'm surprised I didn't hit 5 bars in this heat and traffic!  I think I checked my temp gauage more today than I did my whole time owning the bike.  Oil cooler is my next mod for sure.

Nick is a great guy.  Very friendly and seems a genuine and honest guy so I immediately felt I made a good choice in commuting all the way up here from Irvine.

Total trip time:  1 hour 5 minutes (excluding a gas stop and a visit to the atm machine).  I thought it would be a 2 hour+ ride with the traffic.

Around the 10 freeway is where I also saw, and eventually followed, another monster owner (red S4Rs?).  It was a pleasure following him and watching people in cars react to the growl of his exhaust.  ;D  I think following him through traffic made the trip more enjoyable and a lot quicker than if I were by myself.  Who ever that guy was, it was a pleasure riding with ya!  [thumbsup]

Anyways, about the bike.  I'm looking forward to finding out if I can tell a difference after a valve adjustment.  I'm not sure if its supposed to be a subtle or significant difference.  I guess I'll find out tomorrow.  I'm also picking up a Pilot Road 2 rear tire so I'm curious to see how that feels as well.

As for the valley...  Its like one giant Santa Ana!   No no no, not because of the demographics but of how the area looks.  It reminds me a lot of Santa Ana, visually.  Lots of buildings and people but nothing to see or do.  Kinda old and dirty, too.  :-X  So far I met a woman who was sitting outside her apartment due to the heat.  Had small talk with her then next thing I know, I got invited over for dinner!  Thanks for the tacos, Val!  ;)  Hope my luck continues tomorrow!

Now I'm stuck in a hotel catching up on email and plotting what to visit/see/experience/eat while I'm all the way up here. The hotel I'm in is next to a busy street and my window is broken so it doesn't close all the way.  [roll]  I tried calling the front desk but they aren't answering.  I'm too lazy to go down to the front desk so I guess I can just sleep with the AC on full blast.  The drone of the fan drowns out the traffic noise and strangely lulls me to sleep.... or maybe it was all that wine during dinner?  [wine]

Either way, I'm going to call it a early night.  I'm exhausted from a long day at work, the long hot commute, the 5 miles I walked to this hotel, and all the wine. What a strange day.  I think I like the valley...

You're in Reseda dood.... it SUCKS there!

Make your way to Ventura Blvd  ( at least theres some things to see/shop/eat etc..)  around Sherman Oaks

a few spots in No Ho are ok too (some decent eats)...

well...  since this is the Motoservizio thread, I will report that I picked up my bike from Scott today and she runs like a peach. Super affordable, he fixed up a few other minor things besides the basic 24k components, fast turnaround- I'm VERY impressed. Since I live in long beach it was also really easy for my girlfriend to get me over there.

Lawbreaker- hoping I'd run into you :P  ah well, another time. :)

You notice my new aluminum subframe hanging out in the lobby? I really should get over there and get it installed.
