That is one hell of a piece of Road that I never would have guessed existed . I know you and others have told me about how good a Road it was but I'm in love w, the roads I ride in the Hocking Hills. I can do 150 miles and that's it for me at my age and physical condition w, my bad Knees and Shoulder on a Super bike. I get down as far as Athens but 555 starts beyond Athens and goes South. That was some good riding if not a bit TT like at times . Sure was a thrill to watch. Thanks for putting up the video. Dolph :) Title: Re: Route 555 ride in south east ohio Post by: ab on September 21, 2010, 02:04:36 AM Thanks doubleeagle and anyone else for watching the ride. It was a really enjoyable ride. It is too bad, we run of memory card for the first part of the ride which actually was so much faster and frankly the fastest ride I have ever been on that road. The adrenalin rush was crazy ( excited , elated, scared shitless , wondering wreck or not , f'n enjoying ... all mixed up )
(I am the biker right in front of the camera man. My monster 620 in shop, so I am on Triumph S3) Any feedback is always good to hear and learn from. On the way there, I was all over the lines. It just takes me long time to warm up and get in a groove. Mind you this roads were the cleanest we have seen them. Usually there is gravels on the curves. I have witnessed first hand too many wrecks this season alone there including one on Saturday but the talented Duc 1098 really minimized the wreck and damage ( he did not brake rather rode it in the grass and came out with broken mirros and minor scuffs - last guy that wrecked that exact same spot had a broken collar bone ). Here is the rest of r555 ride ( Part 2 ) Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/ducatimonster620#p/u/6/kPYOC8022Pc (http://www.youtube.com/ducatimonster620#p/u/6/kPYOC8022Pc) Part 3 (heading back columbus rest of routes after r555 - still got some twists (more like swerves I guess ) but much much easier and fun still) Ride2010 09 19 R555 P3 2 AfterR555HeadingColumbus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agiQDQ793hw&feature=youtube_gdata_player#normal) Thanks everyone and be safe _ab Title: Re: Route 555 ride in south east ohio Post by: invisible monster on September 21, 2010, 02:28:00 AM Quote Usually there is gravels on the curves. I ride 555 fairly often and have noticed a LOT more gravel in the corners in just the last couple of weeks. I don't know if it's the harvest or people putting rock down on their driveways before winter but there has been a significant increase. It is a fun road for corner carving or just taking in some nice scenery. Nice videos BTW. Ive done 56 from hocking to athens coming from cbus but havent hit 555 up yet. This makes me want to....bad. And yes...the gravel scares the s*** out of me in the twisties on those country roads.

[thumbsup] We go to Hocking now and then. I have only done that about 4 times fully. We mostly ride part of hocking in one of late night rides. I personally didn't like late night rides out in the country for obvious reasons (deers mainly). R555 is nice road but you can not be cocky out there your first time. It took me many years to get used to it. Frankly, I am still not used to it. Everytime I go out there it is like my first time. If you in the area, more than welcome to join the rides. Most of the rides are not as spirited all the time and we do break off into faster, fast and slower packs. Title: Re: Route 555 ride in south east ohio Post by: redxblack on September 21, 2010, 05:16:41 PM I'm going to have to go down to that side of the state sometime soon. I'm bored riding in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Im up for something epic before the season is completely taken over by the oh winter. Only problem is I need new tires(desperatley) and 7500 service on my s2r which means new belts and such and that all means $$$. As soon as thats complete I will hit you guys up. thx. [thumbsup]I am in the same boat with tires. I am on my fourth tire this season alone between the two bikes (front and rear for both bikes and not counting the free rear tire I got a few weeks back for the triumph). I am now in need of back tire desparately for the triumph and need to save up for another dunlop dual compound now. (looking for cheap hardly tracked tire first) Title: Re: Route 555 ( Twisty ) ride in south east ohio Post by: ab on October 11, 2010, 02:27:47 PM Well went to r555 with a two other riders.
