Title: Re: Monster tail chop Post by: ollie on September 21, 2010, 01:14:25 AM To Chop or not Chop the eternal ducati monster owner's question.
I've so far resisted the urge to chop, but with every mod I keep looking at the tail and think that you'll be next [laugh] Has anyone had any dramas with rego or anything since going the chop?? Title: Re: Monster tail chop Post by: mattyvas on September 21, 2010, 01:43:21 AM Chopped two bikes, no problems.
[evil] says do it. Sounds good to me! ;D Contrary to I guess what most people think here I love the tail and leave it alone! I have considered chopping th tail but liken it to having plastic surgery on your ass!! [laugh] [laugh] Title: Re: Monster tail chop Post by: dragonworld. on September 21, 2010, 06:35:08 PM A good thing about the standard beer tray is that it err "can hide" the number plate from overhead toll and freeway speed detection cameras! [evil] [cheeky]
You just might have to readjust the number plate a tad to make maximum use of the "standard" part, and of course I am not advocating that riders should do this, no not at all!! [clap] I'm just bringing it to the attention of the group of a matter of community interest!!?? [roll] [evil] [thumbsup] Title: Re: Monster tail chop Post by: rod796 on September 21, 2010, 07:08:20 PM That's a very clear, easy to follow and well presented video.... thanks for the posting it.
I like the look of the tail chop also, but I dont know if I could bring myself to put a hacksaw to my bike. But I suppose there's no better time to buy one as the Aussie $ is almost at one with the $USD. -Rod Title: Re: Monster tail chop Post by: signora monster on September 21, 2010, 10:23:52 PM I'm just bringing it to the attention of the group of a matter of community interest!!?? Title: Re: Monster tail chop Post by: mattyvas on September 21, 2010, 11:51:06 PM That's a little disappointing to know Mike, that chop's are marked down.
IMHO if you look at the majority of Monsters that we'd mostly all aspire to have create. i.e. Spidey's, Jeff from Monster Parts, Anything Duck Stew has created they are all chopped. chopped rocks! Title: Re: Monster tail chop Post by: dragonworld. on September 21, 2010, 11:55:45 PM I know nothing of what you are talking about! [cheeky] Aaah its good to see by the general naivety that we are all such pillars of society and aherents to the true and correct Road Laws of the Land! [puke] B(cough) shite!! Title: Re: Monster tail chop Post by: vossy on September 23, 2010, 01:45:46 PM As I don't actually hate the tail chop, I wouldn't or couldn't do it myself.
I think it would be like Danni Pedrosa cracking a smile or Marco Simoncelli cutting his fro. [cheeky] It wouldn't be the same. It wouldn't be a monster. [moto] love the iconic beer tray [bow_down] Title: Re: Monster tail chop Post by: mostro900 on September 23, 2010, 01:53:51 PM Have contemplated doing mine, but i have high mount termis on an S4R...going on separate sides. if i chop the tail they will stick out at least 100mill past the tail, may look a bit odd i feel......????????????? yep, would look a bit strange IMHO. Tidy lines and all that! If in line with the pipes I reckon it's OK, but otherwise it might look a bit naff. Might be best to try it out in Photoshop first! This is what the Tail chop looks like on an S2R 800 with the original length Termi Cans, I wasn't sure how it would look either, but I have to say I ended up really liking them stick out a bit further, I know some people have chopped them as well, I considered it, but I have to say I prefer them at that length. Also you can refer to my Tail chop Tutorial found here: http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=19650.0 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=19650.0) Feel free to add to the Topic, even throw the Videos in there. I always try to make my Tutorials open ended, meaning I want people to contribute to them and make them better. You can always chop the pipes, after I chopped mine I took about 75mm off my pipe to help neaten up the whole look. ;) |
