Eric was a good kid who I met through the store. He had been coming in the past few weeks buy'n up all the necessary gear to do a riding class next week. We had exchanged phone numbers and had tried to hook up to go on a ride a few times a few weeks ago, but were unable to work it out. He had just jumped on the AGATT band wagon, and was truely dedicated to learning how to ride smoother and safer.
I just found out about his passing this afternoon when one of our other customers asked me if I knew him.
RIP Eric :'(
sorry to hear that...
but what is it with "The operator of a sports style motorcycle"..
isn't that suppose to be a rider?....
17 y old driver..hrmm..

w/o knowing all the facts.... I heard from a few customers today that the girl was driving dads
borrowed car without his permission, and was on a cell phone at the time. In Bakersfield.... its "Harley, dirtbike or sports style motorcycle" in the media.
Bummer Joel,
Wish these things didn't happen ..............but truth is .........they happen every minute to somebody somewhere.
I know it only counts when it's somebody we know and care about .
Dolph :(

Another not really an accident.
RIP Eric.
This goes hand in hand with the distracted driver thread below. I am sorry for the loss, my thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family... and to the driver and her family. I wouldn't want that to be on my conscience. :P Hopefully this will serve as a good (but sad) lesson to her, her family and friends. Put down the damn phone when you're driving! >:(
Sorry for the loss bobspapa.
I find it curious how "The operator of a sports style motorcycle... struck the driver's front fender of the SUV." That sounds more like getting run over.

From this article "Bakersfield police say the case is still under investigation and they don't know yet if charges will be filed against the unlicensed teenage driver." She was unlicensed, caused an accident, and killed someone. What is the threshold for being charged with anything in Bakersfield?
pregnant dog should be put in jail forever. sorry, you drive without a license, kill someone, and possibly do it because you were on the phone.. i don't care how young the person is their life should be over at that point, i don't care how cute she might have been she should hang.
Lost a fellow human being who leaves behind a wife and 2 year old; it really sucks.
Probably the first thing out of the mouth of the 17 year old when asked by investigating officers is "I didn't see him comming..."
I am so very sorry to hear this, Bob. I really felt for the victim and his family as I was recently involved in an accident that could have very easily had the same outcome as the story. I too have an wife and a very young child. I can not even imagine the grief his wife is experiencing. My thoughts and prayers go out to this family.
My prayers go to all involved.
Crap. Terrible story. Funny, as a teacher I see all these kids with no realization that their actions affect others. One of them might kill me on my bike because they're texting or on the phone.
JM
Yep. They just might. And who knows if it would mean anything to them or the girl that caused this death. Probably think it's all just a damn video game with no consequences. I keep going back to the Rome analogy. [bang] How much longer does this insanity last? Where's that giant meteor hurdling this way? Karma says it can't be too far off... sad. :P
