Title: 2010 WSBK Round 12-Imola (spoilers)
Post by: Speeddog on September 25, 2010, 07:26:25 AM
It's a sure sign of the apocalypse, a Kawi on pole in WSBK.  ???

I liked seeing that. Something new and weird. I'm sure conditions played a role, since when were the Kawi SBKs faster than their street bikes? [laugh] Good for Sykes, that's gotta feel good. [thumbsup] Gonna be a wild one... I hope! I'd like to see Max wrap it up at Imola. How sweet would that be? Italy would go on vacation for the rest of the month!! [wine] [beer] [clap]

Pretty sure it's the 2010 version that they have been running all year. Looking forward to a big effort next year with the new bike. I love seeing 5-6 different brands fighting for the top 10 spots. The more the better! [thumbsup] That says a lot about the rules being fair.

Maybe, just maybe it's a Ducati track?

What happened to Max?

Congrats to Biaggi  [clap]
He certainly got his head back together for the second race. [thumbsup]

Too bad that Haslam's bike calved...

It would have been fun to see the title go to the last weekend.

And Ducati 1,2, and 3 in the first race and 1 and 2 in race 2.

I guess the bike still can be competitive at tracks without long straights

Out-make the beast with two backsing-standing!! I've been on a all day ride and this is what I wanted to see when I got home! Congrats to Checa and Ducati for winning on home soil and big congrats to Max and the Ap crew for the title... also on home soil! [thumbsup] [wine] [bow_down]

was great to see Haslam trying his ass off, till the motor let go...I guess you can say he is a never say die type of guy...

Checa just seems to have a magic with that bike that no one else can muster..come from the back and just ply his will through the field and keep on going...

WTF was up with the Kwak this week...Sykes was just amazing with that thing...from outta nowhere...

and the 1st race with all the "off track excursions"....that was just nuts....

Yeah, as much as I wanted Max to take the title at Imola I also hated to see Haslam go out with an engine failure. How often does that happen? Checa being robbed of the double at Miller comes to mind but that wasn't total engine failure. Have to admit, these race bikes are pretty damn reliable.

Too bad Haslam also just lost his job for next year after having such a great season. [bang] At least Alstare is handling it in a fair fashion. They can't help that sponsorship $$$ just vanished for next year. Hopefully someone will have the good sense to snatch up Leon ASAP. [thumbsup]

I also agree that it was a good weekend for Sykes! When did FIM allow Kawi to add the nitros kits?? [laugh] Good for Sykes! [clap]

I don't veiw it as Leon lost his job....I viewed it as Leon was freed to pursue other avenues since Batta can't give him any certainty for the kind of support he needs to pursue some real results out of a machine that isn't up to par, and the lack of anything further in chain of support....to me it looks as of Batta is being the bigger man in the situation and I hope he sends a real message to the racing paddock and to Suzuki by doing so...maybe Batta will pick up some BMW's or some other manufactured machine and continue to run a race team, as he is certainly not a bad team owner at all...and if that happens, maybe a rider or 2 will climb on board knowing how Batta does business...

Man, chicane is a total clustermake the beast with two backs.  I forget about it, and then it comes time to race at Imola again and I'm reminded of how bad it is.  What a nightmare from a safety standpoint.

Congrats to Max.  [thumbsup]

What, did Nori decide he's a professional motorcycle racer and not an umbrella just for the end of the season?

Toseland has been teh suck this year.  He needs a different ride for next year (which he'll get) to figure out if he's just lost it or whether he just wasn't getting on with the Yami.

Checa!!!  Lanzi!!

the kawi's problem has never been power.. if only wsbk were a drag race.  looks like they found a good [half race distance] set-up finally.

congrats to max indeed... but the whole thing was kinda of a yawner.  really too bad for leon.  maybe japan hit the remote kill once they found out batta was going to bad-mouth them in his press release.

Good thing they don't have an ejection seat ;)

OK, I just sat down and watched both Imola WSBK races again (kinda buzzed through them before) and was just wondering if anyone ever understood anything Martin said in commentary? Did the guy even have a microphone on? Was it working? All I heard was mumbling, bad mumbling at best, with sort of an English accent. I have no make the beast with two backsing idea what he said in either race! I may be hard of hearing in my left ear but I could hear the other commentator just fine. WTF?? [bang]

He had some sort of mic issue, I could barely here him as well.

and I understood him...but I was watching on my TV with surround sound turned up...maybe that was the difference...

OK, just taking a break to get a fresh cold beer and watching the Imola World Super Sport race on my dvr. Ah... I guess nobody told Steve Martin to actually clip the microphone to his shirt rather than leaving it on the floor. [laugh] Is it me, or does anyone else find Sofuoglu boring as hell. I know his WSBK attempt went in the toilet because of lack of talent and personal tragedy. But I find myself wanting Laverty and everyone with two legs and a heart beat to kick his ass in World Super Sport. He seems to be stuck in limbo. World Supersport = Le Brea tar pits! Thankfully Laverty will advance classes (as he should) and Kenan will flounder as the World Super Sport "king". Ten kate should be fined by the FIM for being boring. ;D

Sorry Laverty took them both out at the end but it still doesn't quash my dislike of Kenan. I'm just glad Laverty moves on and who gives a make the beast with two backs about Kenan and what he does. :P Success doesn't buy you admiration. Sometimes the opposite is true. :-*

I Like Sofu purely because he ride like a true make the beast with two backsing lunatic, His rossi leg out thing is ridiculous looking and  looks like he's going to throw himself off the bike.

In a somewhat more sober state of mind ;D I will admit that Kenan can ride the shit out of 600 Honda (but that's about all...) but where in the hell did he pick up that incredibly stupid looking "Rossi leg" BS?? I don't ever remember him doing that before? He was only doing in right hand turns and was doing inconsistently, never the same turn lap after lap. Puzzling evidence. ??? It was a damn good race at the end, can't wait to see Laverty in WSBK. [thumbsup]
