Post by: Düb Lüv on September 25, 2010, 12:03:41 PM
i went to my local dealer today to see if they could source some DP race cams for a 900. they recommended that i only get the horizontal cam.

could somebody shine some light on my stupidity please.

Makes no sense...

I could understand just intake or exhaust only as they may know some details about performance, but just one cylinder?

They were mistaken.

+1. i didn't think about that DP. i remember DOHC cars guys will do different intake and exhaust cam profiles. i'm sure it's the same for a bike. but 1 hotter cam on a 2v? i even mentioned, "only run a hori cam"? ??? and thought i was the crazy one.

Can't figure a purpose to only fitting 1 cam in a 2-valver.

Anyway, more info on cams here:

I know Bruce did some stuff like using a stock intake for exhaust with a hot R intake...on 4V bikes.

Most of the 2V cams are pretty mild as supplied.
