Title: Monster 696-796-1100 headlight relocator ... what to you think about :o)
Post by: Chris,desmoworld on September 26, 2010, 08:48:20 AM
Hi Guys,

let me know what you think about my idea ... i dont like the standard positon of M696-1100 headlight,
i allways feel it looks like a front crash ... much to close on the bike i my point of view

let me show you my prototype, i like step 2 maybe 3. for me the +10mm(step 2) or +15mm(step 3) looks perfect, much better than stock

what do you think about ?

Thanks
Chris

have you checked the length of the light and turnsignal wires? i always felt they were a bit short.

the third obviously would be the better choice since it's so different than stock. You might want to even check out a 25mm one.

I think some people were having issues with some clipons with the light assembly so this may solve that problem.

Nice innovation though!

cables are no problem , the last step inside the animation is +20mm ... of course i can do more but to much looks no good

i love the +15mm

Nice innovation? THANKS  ;D

Chris

Nice!

I think some people were having issues with some clipons with the light assembly so this may solve that problem.

Yes, After clipon install the headlight points WAY too low and cannot be adjusted high enough with the factory light aiming adjustments.

I had to improvise an extension at the bottom mounting point in order to get the right height.

Seriously, this is awesome.  Will it be adjustable or only set-lengths to order?  It not only looks good (kinda diggin the 20mm myself) but would be a huge help to the clipon issues involved with the headlight clearance.  Make it so... and update the website in English so I can start my ordering frenzy :-D

ok so better +15mm or +20mm ... at the moment its only a 1hour testing prototype , not adjustable because you need appropriate parts like a top cover and holders.

i will check if i find a good adjustable solution ... if not it will be fixed for +15 or + 20mm

My headlight already looks like your Stage 2 version  ;D.

Anybody who fits a Speedymoto top triple to M1100/M796/M696 will find that they have spacing issues with the headlight mounts.  The Speedy top triple forces the upper mount out by... from memory something like 10mm, so something is required to "balance" this at the lower mount.  Like Veloce-Fino, I also had to come up with a modded lower light mount to reslove this.  But your kit may be the answer to this issue for  anybody else who wants to go the Speedy top triple route  [thumbsup].

I have the clipon problem, and a super-cheesy workaround.  You make this in a 15 or 20mm, and I'm buying one.

X2

Really nice looking carbon. I like the color scheme. Reverse of what I currently have. The white stripe MAKES that setup.

thanks my friend  [thumbsup]

i always think about special solutions ... so we need our own carbon line as well  ;D

but for all like better the standard carbon look ... no problem, we call this GLOSSLINE  [laugh]

here you can compare all lines we can offer , as you can see our BLACKLINE looks much more black than standard carbon ... the result you can see on the monster

i think a better next next would be also a bracket that relocates the speedometer down and tucks it more nicely with clip ons, it looks like a hat just sitting up there. great looking product though, when i do clip ons i will go with this.

what will shipping be to the us?

Problem is the speedo pod mounts directly to the headlight. There are two large mounting "bars" sticking out of the headlight. You would need to cut these bars off if using a custom bracket for the speedo pod which would be a permanent modification to a very expensive piece of hardware.

Chris, which one of these headlight re-locators do we order if we're going with clip-ons?  Google translate isn't helping me decipher the order page :-P

Chris@desmoworld-

How much do those pipes end up costing shipped to the US?

Also, do you carry the side covers that go on the side of the oil cooler in carbon?
