Title: 2009 M1100 S Engine Oil Drain Plug
Post by: hedgehog132 on September 30, 2010, 05:00:29 PM
I am changing the oil and filter, or attempting to, on my 09 Monster 1100 S.  I had the first change done at the dealership and want to do this one myself.  I'm not sure which one is the oil drain plug and don't want to take the wrong plug out.  I can't find a pic anywhere that shows which plug is which.  My owners manual suggests having the dealer do it, no instructions, no nothing.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help.  I found it.  It turns out not to be the one I suspected,  Whewww, glad I didn't just start taking out plugs.  Btw, the owners manual says 3.5 liters but the sight glass is full and I only put in 3 liters; exactly what the dealer gave me.

Now it's time for another 3000 miles of riding enjoyment.

Did you run the engine a bit and check the sight glass?  The extra .5 might be to take care of the oil cooler (which is empty when the bike is at rest, the engine pushes the oil up into it)

Unless the cooler has the lines running to the bottom of the cooler, which is opposite of most ducs,

How does it drain?
