Maybe it's just my personality but I always seem to get bored or want the latest and greatest, so why should motorcycles be any different....

This weekend I had a chance to test ride a Thruxton 900 and Street triple Triumph.  I wanted to try the speed triple but they did not have one.  I always loved the way these sound and they are damn sexy!

To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.  They did nothing for me at all.  Nothing. Both of them.  I could not wait to get back on my monster S2r1000.  Once I did I grinned and thought to myself, maybe I have found the perfectly balanced motorcycle for myself.  Maybe the bike is out there that can change my mind but I doubt it.

Anyone else have a similar experience that's made them proud to get back on their bike?  Or maybe have a change of heart and go the other way?

Just a thought....

I had a 749s...nothing wroooong with it...just wasn't me.  Traded it for..wait for it...wait for it...S2R 1000 greatness!!!  I am a monster driver, and i'm proud of it!!!

Tested a V-Rod Muscle yesterday - it is no Ducati, that's for sure

I was impressed but as soon as I got back on my 696, I knew the V-Rod wasn't for me

Agreed!  There is nothing like a Ducati....

Ive ridden 20 some odd bikes in my time and nothing feels as perfect a my bike.

I was a little taken back by how much I did not like the triumph, aside from the sound.  The triple sounds great, but nothing more.  Maybe the speed triple would be more my speed, no pun intended....

Some friends and I happened to stop by the Ducati shop in Ocala one saturday morning and unbeknown it was factory demo day.....
Had been drooling for a Hyper or a SBK...
Rode everything got back on my S2R1000 and was happier than ever with her...
Demo day saved me money and squashed my lust for others. 

In the sixth year & I still love my S4R .....

I may have to forward this thread to a friend of mine who has her eye on a Thruxton. Once my Monster settled down from all the exhaust system install, TPS resetting, and FatDuc fiddling she ran GREAT yesterday. I saw many bikes on my ride, but I didn't see myself on anything but a Duc.

I originally had my eye on the Thruxton when the Sport Classic felt uncomfortable to me.  The bike is beautiful to look at but IMHO was severely underpowered and felt unusually buzzy over 5k RPM's.  The seating position was not comfortable either.  When I'm on my monster it is a fun ride, that's what the Thruxton is lacking...Grin factor!

I just told a buddy of mine who had his eye on the Thruxton and Scrambler...He made an appt. to test drive and see for himself.

There is nothing like a Ducati and there is nothing better than the sound of a Ducati - even with stock exhaust!!!

I can find a positive or fun-factor to every bike and have never found a single bike that is full of the "do-all" wonderfulness, so......I have several bikes.

Sold my purchased new '95 M900 in '97 and regretted it ever since. Got another '95 M900 two years ago and upgraded some of the motor parts (as listed below) and haven't looked back. It just fits right. It's fun to ride both slow and fast, solo and two up.

Sometimes I get greedy for more power but besides doing more engine work on the next rebuild I'm happy. 944 pistons and big valves are a few years away.

I have tried other bikes but if they don't get your gonads contra rotating it's no good is it? When I lift the tank it's like lifting the hood on a 60's-70's pre pollution V8. Simplicity I can get my head around.

I'm saving for a track bike (CBR/GSXR,etc) but a Monster is the perfect street bike for me.

Crazy - I fell head over heels over the Street Triple - almost sold my bike but didn't as the hit would have been too much.  If you got on the Striple and you didn't see the panel lights warning you to up shift then you didn't ride her properly :)

I will give you that....I rode her between 6-12 RPM.  you really need to rev to get any power. Kind of reminds me of my YZF 600.  All top end.  Personally i prefer my monsters powerband.  It suits the type of riding I do perfectly.  From what I hear the Street triple has a broader powerband.  The sound of the triple was intoxicating though....Different folks, different strokes

I just test rode an M796 and found that while it had good handling and great brakes, the engine wasn't as promised or expected and the clutch sucked compared to my S2R800. The 796 is supposed to be a better bike all around, but that's not what I found.

I sold my 05 620 Monster and cried like a pregnant dog for days despite having another bike int he garage (cruiser at that).  Well not two months passed and I'm onto a 750 later S2R and S4R (my extramarital affair).  not enough so I bought a vespa, the only thing I could buy after all these expensive ladies.  I want my 620 bike for the track.....I would put track skins on it and let'r rip

BUT


there is greener grass.  Had my Roadstar for 10 years pulling 130 lbs/tq from 1,000 RPM and onward.  Jumped on an Electra Glide and oh was it sweet and plush.  Loved my Roadie but the Electra Glide is my barca lounger and smooth as silk.....yes, for me it was greener this time.

Going on 7 years with my reliable monster and still loving it.I do have a ktm smc to do some of the dirty works.
