Title: Motor feels weird
Post by: He Man on October 14, 2010, 11:19:38 AM
After my last getoff the bike has been feeling werid and i cant figure it out. the best way i can describe is, the bike feels like the chain is loose. but its not. Whenever i get on the gas, the motor revs up and it feels as if the chain is tighening up and then i go. If i dont use the clutch when i shift, then it dont feel this. I checked the front sprocket and rear sprocket for play and they are all well fitted on their shaft.

Any heads up on where to look at ?

Cush drives, motor mounts, swingarm mount, clutch, rear wheel loose, front end loose, brakes dragging, garbage/grease in the clutch?   :D

brand new clutch pack at proper height.

front and rear wheels are good to go. brakes are not dragging, motor is tight on the frame.

My motor feels like aluminum, finned is some areas, smooth in others.  [coffee]

I have no good ideas, except to check out the clutch and cush drives.  My rear wheel was groaning and I finally traced it to the cush drives.  My chain was properly tensioned, sprockets and rear axle aligned and the bike has no mileage to speak of.  The groaning went away with silicone spray, so I do not know what's going on in there.  I'd take out the clutch slave and inspect/regrease the plunger rod.  Maybe your new clutch plates need some break-in?  I wish I could help.

I'm going to go with cush drives as the culprit.

If i dont use the clutch when i shift, then it dont feel this.

it's the clutch slipping.  something is restricting it reclamping/pressure plate reseating - something not lined up, hydraulic issue with the slave, dunno.  if you can feel it rev up then it can only be the clutch.  the chain or cush drives would be a snatch/clunk and would happen very quickly.
