Title: Craiglook.com shut down
Post by: 1KDS on October 16, 2010, 05:43:26 PM
Damn it

I use this site to search craigslist, works way better than the actual cl site or searchallcraigs.com.  Apparently it was shut down due to demand from craigslist.  Anyone know of any other sites like it?

bummer - I got my M900i.e. through craiglook. I wouldn't have thought to check buffalo from Akron.

theres a way to set up google to search craigslist for you. I did it awhile back so I will have to the find the link again and post it.

Saw it this morning too, really LAME.  However, if you just go to craiglook.com anyway, you see the note telling you that it is shut down, then just close the note and use the sight.  Still works the same, looks the same, now it's just called something else.  Maybe the sight just needs to change the name to be legal or something.  Craigslist really needs to leave the other sights alone, or come up with it's own way to search within specific parameters across all the craigslist sights across the country.  Very valuable when you are looking for something and you are willing to travel.  Like a slightly used Ducati!!  If the sight totally shuts down, try craigzoom.com, works really well.

Here's my favorite Google trick - maybe it will help some of you.  Enter this in Google:

"site:craigslist.org [whatever you want to search for]" - this will search all craigslist sites for whatever keywords you entered

You can also do it by city

"site:chicago.craigslist.org [keywords]"

Or by city and category

"site:nyc.craigslist.org/mcy [keywords] (the "/mcy" is the motorcycle section)

... and of course you can do this for any site you like, not just craigslist.  Anyways, hope this helps..

Not for me, it looks like it will work but then doesn't come up with any results, even if I search for something I know is for posted.

Works for me.  Just automatically redirects me to claz.org after I close the window that says the sight has been shut down.  Just tried it searching for a used Subaru and it is showing me listings from 10 minutes ago, 5 hours ago, 9 hours ago, etc.   ???

I like that app, thanks

All the other sites are shit compared to how craiglook worked, but I guess you can't have everything.

They're not craigslist ads though. They're from other sites.

I use CraigsPal free Craigslist Reader

Free version has no search limitations

www.CraigsPal.com (http://www.craigspal.com)

I had Craigs helper bookmarked and it turned into http://claz.org (http://claz.org)

same as the helper and it searches a few other sites as well.
