Bike is a '00 M900S. Was fiddling in the garage yesterday and was kind of surprised to see both coils fail the active test, as the bike runs great.
I threw my multimeter on each coil, and each one specs out a little bit outside of what the Haynes book calls out (though it does say that the published specs are only for carb'd bikes), but well within the +/- range that I've seen on here:

coil primary later 4.5 ohms + or - 15%, earlier 3.4 ohms + or - 10%
coil secondary later 19.5K ohms + or - 20%, earlier 12K ohms + or - 10%.
I think I can consider an '00 to be "later", yes? If not, I guess it's pretty clear these fackers are hosed; If I'm correct, what now?
I've seen the same 'fail' on several great-running bikes that I've hooked up to the VDST software.
I don't put much stock in it.
Exactly what I was hoping to hear; thank you!

I believe the FI bike uses different specs, different coils.
+1.
I thought there was a difference between the lil' bitty coils on the carb generation, and the ones that came on the fuelies.
if they were hosed, and you liked the way it was running, i'd recommend just replacing them with the oem ones, i can't remember if dyna coils was an upgrade for the fuel injected bikes.
matters not, chris is having to source coils elsewhere it seems, as he has pulled the dynacoils from his catalog.
Nology was the upgrade for the older FI bikes. Off hand I don't know what Chris

is presently carrying in coils. I would give him a call. Or, if the bike runs fine just keep riding [moto]
