I just got an older fender from Slauster! I couldn't wait to check fitment before I start hacking away at it! The darn thing bolts right on, no mods or special fabricated brackets... So here is the before pic....Also note, the fender is gloss black on a white monster. Who says you can't put old parts on new monsters! IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII like it! Inevitably, you can now start with the "it looks like a cop bike comments"....)

It looks like a cop bike. ;D Hacking away? You planning on bobbing it? [thumbsup] I like it.

I can't believe you haven't blackened the headlight frame yet!
I don't know if I am a fan of the blacked out frame yet (at least on my bike). I like it on other bikes for sure, but I have a good amount of silver on the front end, including the oversized oil cooler that sticks out just under the headlight. So in my opinion, it is a little bit of a contrast to the rest of the bike. I don't know I will have to photoshop it and see if it grows on me. Now the rear sets for sure need to be black and that is probably my next mod after I hack the fender.
IMO it makes the headlight look more like one piece than split like it is.
but true, some contrast is good.
it's one of the issues i have about the monsters though. there is a very 'split' personality on the design.
headlight split with upper black lower silver
frame split with front smooth and rear rough (red and black is ever worse)
in general it can be a more flowing, complete look with some paint changes.
anodize the forks black as well, fit some Leo Vince Mufflers.
Put some red and blues on it and start pulling people over [evil]
I did it the other way, new onto old [thumbsup]

Looks good,
I'm surprised you don't run your own exhaust?
I did have the prototype on there, but then our welder said..I will be done with some more production versions here soon...Well you know how that goes. I should actually have my "production version" on here in 2 weeks or so when the new run is finished. I really would like to have my own exhaust on my own bike! We have not had any surplus so unfortunately, I am always the last to get one.
Man, the fender looks good! Well done!
Ryan,
Why have you chopped the rear off the fender - if you have? Is it purely for cosmetic reasons? I'd have thought the longer rear would have provided a little more protection for the front cylinder and the starter motor and acted as a fender extender - which is why I asked you about the model it came from.
I liked the extra protection and thought about fitting one for long trips in bad weather and reverting back to the original for the fine weather.
So are you saying the front fenders from the 695 / S2R and S4 will all fit the 2009 696 without modification?

Sorry for the thread jack,
I'm still kicking myself for letting an s4rt slip thru my fingers, :'( that is my all time favorite monster!
Returning to thread..
LOL that is a beautiful S4 too!
Yes the fender bolts right on. No issues or problems. I chopped the back cause I like the minimalist look. It is really just my opinion and we know how those are. The bike didn't look bad by any means with the full fender either. It wouldn't be a bad idea to use one as a bad weather protector. I currently live in AZ where we don't have much rain so that is usually not a problem for us. However with the move to San Antonio that may change.
