Title: Fork swap M1100S to S2R-1000 Post by: Greg on October 22, 2010, 02:36:15 PM Anyone know if the new M1100S Ohlins will fit on a 2006 S2R-1000 ?

even the 696 are longer Title: Re: Fork swap M1100S to S2R-1000 Post by: scduc on October 22, 2010, 04:29:54 PM So if the diameters are right, it may actually be a good thing for those of us who use clip-ons cuz, we'd be able to install them on top of the triple, with out altering the handling.

Title: Re: Fork swap M1100S to S2R-1000 Post by: Howie on October 22, 2010, 08:15:21 PM I am not sure about the wheel set up or diameters but the 696 796 1100 bottoms are for radial calipers.

50/54mm with 25mm axle and radial 320mm brakes. Title: Re: Fork swap M1100S to S2R-1000 Post by: Greg on October 23, 2010, 05:52:09 AM 1100s 50/54mm with 25mm axle and radial 320mm brakes. So if a pair of these were to find their way to my house, what would need to be changed? Most important I guess is will the forks just slide straight into the stock triples? Assuming the triples are OK, I know I would need to purchase calipers. Probably the best move here would be to grab a set of stock 1100s calipers or try and find a set of monoblocks. Either way, can I use the stock S2R wheel and rotors? If I have to find news wheels and rotors and lots of other crap then the project becomes too expensive. Anyone have any negative thoughts on a stock ohlin?
Title: Re: Fork swap M1100S to S2R-1000 Post by: Greg on October 24, 2010, 07:35:20 AM OK - found doing more searching it does seem as though the S4rs ohlins is a straight swap. Managed to find one at a pretty reasonable price so I snagged it. Still wondering about fork options though.

I bought a rear shock from an S4rs, but I'm still looking at fork options, but that is good to know because I might have bought the S4rs forks if there had been some available at a decent price. |
