Title: Kickstand and cyclecat rearsets
Post by: 671M900 on October 23, 2010, 05:58:12 PM
So I put on the sexy cyclecat rearsets, and have found that they hit the side stand!! I can adjust them up a little more, but I'm afraid I won't have enough distance to complete an upshift. Any ideas to lower the stand position?

Someone here or on "the other board" added a small plastic block to the bottom of the side stand mounting plate to make the side stand rest a little lower when up.  I can't find the link though.  :-\

Damn, need some ideas here guys! Bend the stand forward a bit? Might take away from it's suicide tendencies.

yeah, I had a similar drama with the Lucas reasets. On the lowest setting, I couldn't get my foot cleanly under the shift lever. I tried an SS stand as well as a 748, neither of them were suitable.
I ended up making another mount bracket for the sidestand!

As in cut out of aluminum/steel/etc? Damn. I am consisidering bending the side stand in a tiny bit and maybe cutting and rewelding the foot to straighten out.

The cyclecat sidestand has an adjustable stop. - you might try adjusting it. It's a 4 or 5mm allen about an inch below the pivot. Look for a little hole on the side of the stand that faces front when the stand is down - that's the access.

Hahaha! GP shift, yes why not? Because it'll still hit the side stand on the upshift.

I'm thinking of modding the pivot somehow, Possibly adding a tiny spacer on the end of the side stand, or drilling a hole to make a set screw like the cyclecat stand (which I don't have)

i don't think it would, but another solution would be to acquire a 2000+ sidestand and bracket, where the spring is located differently and it mounts to the engine case differently. That will solve your problems without need to get creative
