Our fire chief sent this out recently. Thought I'd post here, since there are several other first reponders as well as motorcyclists on this board. It's amazing how quickly things can turn to shit.

make the beast with two backsing-a, that's pretty horrifying. :o
More pics from our chief. Wreck on I-90 near Deer Lodge - this one is just fascinating. 120 feet of guard rail passed through the right headlight, engine compartment, firewall, glove box, passenger seat, rear seat and exited out the driver's side of the rear window....and no one was injured.

How fast was the Suburban going?
Since it's in Montana, probably about 115 :P

Probably full highway speed +/-. The driver was heading back to college. He had left central Washington early in the morning. He fell asleep at the wheel and drifted off the shoulder hitting the end of the section of guard rail that led up to a rural overpass. Imagine waking up with guard rail flying past your cheek.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the outcome. I also wonder if the LEO was in the patrol car since we don't see one in the video.
Is this what they mean when they use the term "jack-knifed big rig" on the morning traffic report?

Yes, my grandpa died in his truck when this happened. He got cut off, the truck started to jack-knife, and he had two choices: keep it on the road jack-knife everywhere and take out several cars full of people, or drive it off the road and lose his own life. Guess which choice he made. RIP

To avoid head-ons on the frontage road.
