Title: Bent Vespa Post by: Yellow Meanie on October 30, 2010, 11:32:23 PM Hi all,
A work colleague of mine imported a Vespa from Vietnam a few years ago. It was dirt cheap as it was said to have a bit of "cosmetic" damage... Anyway, he received it while he was studying in Tassie and had it shipped up to Brisbane. When he arrived home to unpack it, he realised the damage was a little more than "cosmetic" :-\ It was taken to a vintage scooter place in Brisbane to be looked at. (I can't recall the name of the business) He was told the forks need some work, the engine needs a total rebuild (around 3k) and that the frame is bent. They didn't quote on straightening the frame as they can't do it, and apparently do not know who can. (I think it has a monocoque frame) The poor scoot has been sitting in his garage for a few years now collecting dust :'( I thought it would be a good little project (like I don't have enough already [roll] ) Or maybe you guys would have some advice for him? ;) Title: Re: Bent Vespa Post by: J5 on October 30, 2010, 11:36:39 PM sell it on ebay , needs some TLC ;)

Jukie, I sure do remember you Lambretta! That's what got me thinking of fixing it up myself! Title: Re: Bent Vespa Post by: Betty on October 31, 2010, 12:31:30 AM Meanie ... I don't know much about these things but I think the Vespa would be monocoque - one of the big differences between the Vespa and Lambretta (except the J series). May not be the typical bike straightening exercise.
The Boss' brother is a bit of a Lambretta expert but knows more than most about any classic scooter. Can't expect any miracles from seeing a couple of photos but its a start. |
