I bought a 2003 monster a while back, it has 2 dents which the lady said was from moving. Now I find out it's a common mark from being dropped. Is there a way to pop them out or should I get a new tank? What is the tank made of, aluminum?
IIRC, 2000+ have plastic tanks. I have no idea if they can be repaired.

Noooo-the plastic tank is more recent than that.
His should be metal.
Ducpainter can fix them.
There are a number of ways you can do them yourself, but it depends on how handy you is.
Plastic is 2004/05 on up. [thumbsup]
ducpainter? i'll contact him, thanks!
My 2005 620 has a steel tank.
If you're asking if it's aluminum because magnets don't stick to it, it's plastic. If magnets do stick to it, it's steel. If it's neither of those, the lady who dented it while moving it also had a tank fabricated from some non-stock material. Prolly solid gold.
My tank got a sweet little dent from a low-side a while back. It was completely repairable for much less than the cost of a new tank and now it looks as good as new.
Money will undent anything!!

Most (If not all) 2004 bikes had steel tanks.
Some 2005 bikes had leftover steel tanks.
Uncommon, but possible.
you may get more info/replies for this in tech.
this thread may help in terms of what tanks were when...
