Title: Handlebar Clamp replacement
Post by: hackers2r on November 01, 2010, 12:57:09 PM
Since I switched to clip-ons, I'm looking for something to take the space that the clamp used to occupy.  Anyone have any ideas?  A nice looking plate would be ideal.  Thanks.

Go to your local trophy shop and have them make a plaque you can attach with button head cap screws.

I'm guessing you already had this done. I would really like to see this; so post a picture.

I personally just cut the original handle bars so all was left was the 2 inch piece left between the two mounts. From that you can mount a GPS or whatever since most motorcycle mounts require a handle bar or something. TOB has pictures of my GPS mounted there.

New triple trees...  ;D

Just joking, I'd go with the dogbones and use a RAM mount triple nut for GPS or whatever.
Hell, why not build the idiot lights into the holes?

I like what avizpls did.  He remachined the original clamp and had a voltage monitor mounted into it.

I've seen a bike where they mounted idiot lights in the holes and it looked really clean too.  I'll post it here if I find it.

Haven't been able to find a pic of the bike with the idiot lights in the clamp mounting holes.

Found another pic of a monster with the single top clamp remounted as a cover though.

But will the plate from the older bikes work on my S2R?  Anyone know?

Won't work on the S2R.  Not sure about the S2R Dark.  I had gotten one thinking of using it to mount a GPS but the holes don't line up.  Since the S2RD uses the 7/8 inch (22mm) bars maybe it would fit but I don't know for certain.
