Title: Fitting oil cooler relief spring
Post by: jerryz on November 04, 2010, 06:55:57 AM
I am fitting an oil cooler to an older monster 750 that doeas not have one , but it needs the spring relief valve under the oil FILTER fitted

any one know which way round to fit the spring plate fits????

I know the rubber part that goes over one of the oil way holes, and the  the other tab end has a bend and fits against the  ridge on the crankcase , but it seems too large  and I am not sure which way round the bend ?springy bit shoild be.

some people have also stated that its not really needed as its only a relief valve if the oil cooler gets blocked

The ones I've seen only fit one way, and it was pretty obvious which way it went in.

If I remember correctly, the tab is bent slightly, and the bend is orientated up toward the motor to prevent it from spinning when tightened.

I had to trim it to fit by cutting the tab as its for a Multi and the one for my bike has shorter tab but ducati cannot supply ..but all is OK now
