One of the things that makes King Eddy Merkx who he is in my eyes and everyone else (including Lance!) is that even after the incredibly long road race season he would race the indoor velos in the winter. And win! Is there any reason why he shouldn't have been called The Cannibal?? I was a road racer in my day but I did do some velo work at the Kenosha, WI velodrome during the late 70s summertime Milwaukee Superweek races. Boy did I suck. Road sprints are a little different from track work!!! [bang] [roll] :P
