Some guys ride an abandoned velodrome (http://www.jockeyjournal.com/?p=760#more-760) in Detroit. Good times ensue.
(Methinks it could use some resurfacing...)
Looks like a good time!
I've raced on a velodrome on a bike powered by me, and can only imagine how much fun it could be with a real motor!
There's a funky hybrid that's a staple of velodrome racing in Europe -- the Derny Races -- speeds up to 60+ mph on specially-built bicycles, paced by equally odd-looking motorcycles:

Erik Zabel winning derny race at Munich 6 days (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuimkmlmvdQ#normal)
Saw the first video a while back, I love that brat style bike at about 1:40
The motor paced Derny races kick ass. One of the things that makes King Eddy Merkx who he is in my eyes and everyone else (including Lance!) is that even after the incredibly long road race season he would race the indoor velos in the winter. And win! Is there any reason why he shouldn't have been called The Cannibal?? I was a road racer in my day but I did do some velo work at the Kenosha, WI velodrome during the late 70s summertime Milwaukee Superweek races. Boy did I suck. Road sprints are a little different from track work!!! [bang] [roll] :P

and then racing it cleaned up a bit...
