I'm assuming most of you NYC-peeps don't have a truck/trailer sitting in the garage, so how do you guys get your bike to track days?

I rent a garage in NJ where I keep a trailer.  2001cromo is thinking of getting a van for this purpose.
I suggest you make friends with people that ride the track regularly that have a (bigger) trailer than me.   ;)

You can rent trailers from U-haul or BARN.

Find a friend with 2x6x5 of spare space.  Buy a fold-up trailer from Harbor Freight (http://www.harborfreight.com/1195-lb-capacity-48-inch-x-96-inch-heavy-duty-foldable-utility-trailer-with-12-inch-wheels-90154.html).  Store it at friend's.

Rent. Though next year we have a car. :D so no more renting vans.

i used to rent from this place in chelsea.. cheapest in nyc.. panel van.. i think it was $50/day with 25c/mile after the first 50..

damien from ryders alley garage also hauls bikes to trackdays.

Dont u have to be a member of ryders alley for him to do you that favor? ontop of that youd still need to get your own butt down there.

ducatiz, that is a good rate thouhg the place i rented from was $90 a day 25 a mile, but the first 100 miles were free.

i'm not sure.  best would be to contact him directly and ask.  he might also have room in his truck for a body or be able to hook you up with someone that has a car.

I think Dan has used him before, ArcDeDucati, but he knows two guys who have bikes there.  If he has room i don't see why he wouldn't haul an extra bike though!

Enterprise cost me around $225 for a Saturday-Monday. 11am pickup and dropoff.  plus total mileage to NJMP from Queens and back.  Overall, not terrible.  Was given a silverado 4 door.  With the 4 door, and the back seats folded up, I could sleep inside, saving the $90 for a room.

With that said, when I can, I reserve one of the trackside suites.  Nothing like having that garage, and a comfy bed

They are wildly unprofessional.  The manager is the crustiest mothermake the beast with two backser you will ever meet up with.  They are not picky about the van's condition, but don't tell them you are hauling a bike.

Usually they are Dodge panel vans.  Mine did not have a tow ball, but the rear bumper had the step with the holes for one, so I bought my own tow ball and removed it before I returned the van.   [thumbsup]. 

The cargo area is huge, you could stick 2 or 3 bikes.  If you want sleeping space, no more than 2 bikes, or sleep in the driver seat.

Ask around when its time to go. A lot of us have trailers that can handle two bikes. If we're traveling solo it's not a big deal to pick up another bike/passenger and help split the gas/tolls/ hotel.

I believe Frank at Moto Clinic in Long Beach hauls bikes when they go too.

Yeah its a merry go round with the trailers  [cheeky]  And we all love to split tolls and gas it can get expensive going solo!
