That's a Leffe Blond in the back on the right, if you don't need it - I can dispose of it for you.

My favorite kind of blonde actually  [thumbsup]

That's pretty cool Trev.  [thumbsup]

How and where did you find this sucker?

And what's the damage to the wallet, if you don't mind me asking?  ???

Big T,

Now that looks like a modification I could do with.  Was looking for somewhere to put a pair of wet weather throw over pants on the ride on Monday.

Would be interested in the price of one!!!  Should I be sitting down when you tell me?

Let me know if you can..... please

Bret

Looks pretty good. Is there a choice of colours for the side panels?

So where does this go?

Okay the story on the Saddle Box seat is that 12 months ago on TOB a guy asked for expressions of interest from Duke rides who might buy this seat. He had a website and we swapped a few emails. Then it all disappeared, website and all. So I presumed that he had not received enough interest.

The a few weeks ago I got an email from Gregory saying that he has been developing the seat over the last 10 months and he is now ready to deliver the first batch.

As for the price…. Please sit down and hold on tight…… Haven’t received the final bill yet but we are looking at about $1,400 AUS delivered to AUS  [bang] ……… Gulp, cough, splutter……… But it is hand made!!!!!!……. Will confirm the final price once I'm billed.....  [moto]

Extracts from his email to me:

There are 2 models. The 'sport' version is the same as the standard one, but with additional body parts to focus on the sport attitude of your bike and be able to get a color touch on the back for a nice effect. The elements here in red or orange are provided in primer in order you can make them painted the color of your choice, as there are too much variations in color, I couldn't be sure to do the exact one.

I have made many improvements in order to get a perfect fit on the bike and make sure every 'rare' user of this hand made product would enjoy it, and would be proud to have bought this limited production concept...

Gregory can be contacted at contact@saddle-box.net

Big T that's great......
We all like rare and individual things on our bikes.

I could of course sell you a hand made and personalized Ducati Monster back pack for half that ;) ;)

Look forward to seeing the goods when it arrives...

545 Euros for the Sport version (in primer!) plus... are you sitting down? Wait for it...

150 Euros for delivery to the US from France!

I'd gotten on the mailing list about a year ago and was really interested in one of these, but nearly fainted at the price.

Everything else is great. Really im suprised no other people manufactured one in the 15 year history of the Monster....

If you use Mr. Sheen to keep the tank and carbon polished - it will make that seat super slippery.

Been swapping emails with Greg from Saddle Box and interesting is the evolution of the seat. He is French but don't hold that against him...  8)

"As it is very much time consuming to make, it is not an entire business
activity, more likely to show my abilities as industrial designer consultant,
and in order to make nice tools to produce it, I have to sell a few to pay the
study, and use the special ordered cnc parts...etc, so I have some in stock and
a few in fabrication .

It will be fun to have picture with sydney in the background... cannot be more
at the other side of the earth ! just great to think that what I made here will
be used and enjoyed so far."

Also is a Certificate of Authenticity where I have seat number 7 of 150. Apparently I have “entered in the confidential saddle box owner’s group”. Does this mean I now belong to some secret French society and have to wear beret?   8)

So Trev cannot open the box - hop onto DMF and post about not being able to open the box - well THAT he can do!

I just walked into another CBA, the female branch manager approached and said "geez, you look good in leather". This is an example of a "motorcycle friendly work environment".

Can I recall a couple of stories about Jukie's bike friendly work environment?

.... at the final job interview the main man (Inspector) says

[leo]   'just one more bonus question, I notice you have your bike licence'

 [moto]   'yeah' she replies apprehensively

[leo]   'what bike do you ride'

 [moto]   'ummm, a Ducati'

 [leo]   'niiiice'

[moto]   'so have I got the job'

 [leo]   'yep'

.... and on the few occasions that she has taken the baby to work, she has asked if she needs to change out of her leathers .... no way comes the reply

I believe another example of a motorcycle friendly work environment.

Okay I have had my way with the virgins so time to post the much awaited pics (apologies for the "garage" shots).

Something to wet the appetite....

The rest of the pics are here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/26503291@N03/sets/72157605785329632/

Okay a few things I have notice just playing in the garage.

~ It is 5.2kgs compared to 3.6kgs for the stock seat (due to solid casting used for the frame).
~ No staples - All glued and bolted.
~ Seat profile is very similar to stock.
~ Is very comfortable (needs some serious bum shining up).
~ Fits like a glove (all lined up first time with NO adjustments required).
~ Surprised at the size of the box as in it is quite large.
~ Still need to paint the wings.
~ Did I tell you it made by 12 French virgins.....

So all I need to do now is the test ride...... Fine weekend coming up.....  [thumbsup]

OOohh and open to suggestions on what colour to paint the wings????

The winner of the colour I choose gets to sit on the seat and share that 12 virgins feeling.....

Well Big T she looks the goods.
We'll have to see on the weekend if the "Tardis" rides as well as stock or a Sargent.
By the way who's home did that go too, Super.....

Can head out Saturday morning till 1-2pm if you're going somewhere.

WOW BIG T DATS SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSMICK :o :o :o  [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup]

Saturday morning then, Tricolore might even venture over our way.
Sorry Big T, the wifey has art class Saturday morning so free time is abundant.

Pie shop then? or K.V.
on our normal seats minus the tardis option.

Big T,

I cannot wait to hear your review on the comfort of the seat.  Any idea how it compares the DP Gel seat?  Also, about how many litres would you say is the tank holds?
Thanks!

T, what do the little wings do, give you a better night's sleep and stop leakage?

I'll vote the same red as the Ducati on the tank. Looks pretty good as is!

Like your new 'banned' version of your name on Flickr.

As they say:

"Red Bull give you wings".....

Well no Red Bull required here....... These new wings create down draft, vacuum and blow dry the road as I lean at 84.9999 degrees into the corners……  [moto]

MMMmmmmm there goes those drugs again…… Awake now…  [roll]
