Title: Removing the starter '99 750 Post by: Pedro-bot on November 14, 2010, 04:15:47 PM Aside from the few bolts that seam to hold it in place. Is there anything I should know before removing it? Does the left engine case need to be removed?

the left cover needs to be removed as there is another screw in there. I think you also have to remove the idler gear to find said screw. Yep, just turn it to line the hole up with the bolt. Same for small-case motors too. There's a hole in the gear for you to remove the screw. Note that there is also a metal crush gasket between the starter motor and the engine case.
