Title: Prop rod
Post by: rideserotta on November 15, 2010, 08:10:52 PM
Anyone know where I can pick up a prop rod (M620)? Mine's did not come with the bike.

the prop rods are not very useful. they are unstable, and in my opinion contributed to the leaky tank hinge problem that the older models had. but if you really want one, post up in the parts wanted thread. i'm sure someone will have one for you.

Thanks. What do you hold the tank up with when you need to get to the battery, etc? At home I can use a board or something but if I'm on the road is there another homemade device or substitute that I can stash under the seat?

Well if you're on the road and need to be messing around under the tank, you'll have way bigger issues than the missing prop rod. Personally - I like my rubber coated dead-blow hammer as a prop as it's non-slipish. It's not uncommon to see folks use about a 1' chunk of 2x4.

For the road - you could probably track a real on down on ebay or any place that sells OEM duc parts. Local shop? Ducati Seattle, Ducati Omaha etc etc

While the rod may put the kind of stress on the hinge that promoted failure it isn't the rods fault entirely.

The cause is as simple as two omitted small mig welds.

i bent one of the tabs on the back of the tank slightly and now it hols its self up as long as there isnt too much gas in it. [bacon]
