I'm on week three of this thing, day 3 without a voice. Between being sick and bad weather my poor Monster is feeling neglected.
Anyone else cursed with this thing?
*raises hand with a sigh*
I'm about a week in... miserable f*ing summer colds! Raw nose, raw throat, incessant coughing, zero sleep, annoying nasal voice...
Got through the longest winter ever without a sniffle. Now it's June, 90 freaking degrees outside, and I'm hacking up a lung and I feel like my head is going to implode. >:(
Misery loves company my friend. Take care of yourself; I hope you kick its ass soon!
MY LOVELY WIFE HAS HAD A COLD NOW FOR ABOUT 4 WEEKS.It's down to a cough and dry thoat. I figure she's about through it (I hope)
I managed about 3 hours of sleep last night between coughing fits, it was great....
I got through the winter as well, but ours doesn't seem to be ending. Rainy and chilly still. Dang PNW!
Well wishes back at you! Ass kicking is definately needed.
Wow. Well, I had it for 4 weeks before I went to the doc... after a 10 day course of Biaxin (at 4 weeks, it was doubtful it was a viral infection) it still wasn't gone, so after an ADDITIONAL 4 weeks (that's 8 weeks of coughing, if you are counting) I am now on prednisone and broncho-dilators to try to kick start my immune system into taking care of it.
Cough is nasty, codeine is good [thumbsup]
I was reading a book , Alternatives to Chemical Medicine, and had a sore throat at the time. Here's what it said , and it really helped.
Gargle with lemon juice wait one hour. Gargle with black tea as hot as you can stand it. Alternate every hour.
I do that as soon as I feel like im getting a sore throat, sooner the better. Stops it and I hardly ever get the cold that usually follows.
Interesting.

I went to my doc yesterday afternoon and she gave me a script for some cough medicine with codeine to help me sleep, but the pharmacy didn't have it. They didn't even have it listed in their perscription book. Sooooo... I ended up buying some Delsym per the recommendation of the pharm tech... and I'm still coughing like mad. >:( It's much worse when I'm laying down, which conveniently enough you must do to sleep, so you can imagine how pleasant I am come morning...
If I have to deal with this garbage for 4 weeks I'm going to kill myself! Won't be hard to do considering I'm already well on my way to literally coughing up a lung! :P
I've coughed myself to the gagging point many times these last couple days. :(

That's consistent with my experience... OTC cough meds didn't touch it. Also get more intense when laying down/back on the couch to relax after work. I'll check the name of the stuff I got... strangely enough the local walmart pharmacy has it on hand, and the Rite-Aid drug does not [bang]
If you've had a cold for 2-4 weeks my guess is there is a nasty sinus infection going on. I had something like that two or three months back and just thought, fvck it, it'll go away on its own. Nope. I had to finally break down and go see the doc who prescribed a combination of things including antibiotics and a nasal inhaler containing steroids (my nose is super bulked up now ;D.)

I've had flu for two months now. Which is embarassing as I am a microbiologist.
Ok, if you want to sleep, jack up your core temperature. Add an extra blanket to your bed. And sleep with a sweater on. [thumbsup]
Sick here for oh....three ish weeks now.
