Title: Fork adjusters
Post by: slowkitty on November 18, 2010, 12:43:09 AM
Thinking of installing fork adjusters, more for bling than function.

Do these things get nicked from bikes? Seems awefully easy to take them off.

Cheers

They have a little set screw to hold them on but easy to steal if you have an allen key.

use a little lock tight on the allen screw/bolt. then some clear silicon in the head where the allen key goes. you can always get it out with a pick if you need to at home, but random thieves (with the right allen key, hahaha,) will be foiled!

I don't like those - the setscrew scratches the aluminum and ruins the anodizing on the adjusters. And, I might add, they're really not that blingy anyway. A greatly diminished return, IMO.

LOL some clear silicone is going to 'foil' a would-be thief? Doubt it. You can pick that stuff out with your fingernail. JB Weld on the other hand, will foil the thief. Who has the time to waste stealing fork adjusters anyway? Most punks just like to run up to the bike, kick it over, and run away. They'd rather damage it than steal it. Anyone who has any real knowledge of what bike parts are worth will not waste their time stealing fork adjusters, that's just silly.  [roll]

i carry a wrench with me just to mess with other bikers, those fork adjusters foil my attempts because then i can't get the wrench on.  >:(
