:o
My grandpa showed me the picture of a Tie figher trying to land which didn't end well. Something about landing gears.
Why was an X-wing coming in hot, those things can hover in. I guess the pilot forgot he didn't have a drag hook.
Early days in the program. That was the first flight test airframe during carrier quals...weak skids issue resolved in production units at a cost of addded weight. And by the time they went into production, the newer Essex class carriers were in the fleet...with steel decks, they could handle the heat of the hovering thrusters.

Did the Essex class carriers steam catapults have enough thrust to launch fully loaded Y-wings?

there were problems with the AT-AT at Normandy. They were supposed to be air tight....just drop them overboard, and they walked to shore. but the seals failed, and many of the crews were lost.
and we all know the weakness of the Imperial walkers. the PIR's were able to neutralize them before they were ever brought into the fight.
